Surprise, surprise...... After all Mayor Brandon Johnson's talk about programs for "young people" — summer jobs, youth activities, safe spaces — two organizers of recurring teen mob actions admit the mayor's programs do not appeal to teens. Here is an idea: Let's arrest them for breaking the law.

The summer is a time for young people to enjoy the city, have new experiences, get a job or simply rest. It’s not a time for violence. I sat down with violence interrupters and young men directly impacted by gun violence to talk about what this administration is doing to keep New Yorkers safe. Real public safety means investing in people before tragedy strikes: summer jobs, mental health support, community programs, safe streets, and trusted messengers who grew up in our neighborhoods.

Listen to Mayor Brandon Johnson's answer to Kristen Welker's question on affordability in Chicago. Mind you, Johnson became mayor in May 2023, some 20 months — nearly two years — before Trump returned to the White House. When told prices have risen in Chicago 7 percent since Johnson became mayor, the mayor froze momentarily and immediately shifted to blame Trump's tariffs. A world-class pivot, Johnson then rambled on for another minute and a half about his throwing money at CPS schools, support for childcare workers, summer jobs programs, affordable housing, mentioned something about fresh water, a diverse economy...............whatever stuck to the wall. Even Welker was bored with his non-answer. The mayor of Chicago is a gargantuan moron.

Johnson's plan to use late-night basketball to keep "young people" safe isn't quite having the desired effect, is it?

Jared Moskowitz’s message for Elon Musk: I think the time for staying in safe spaces is over. Twitter—or X—is a safe space for him. You’ve got to get out of your safe spaces. Go talk to the American people—not just on Fox, not just next to the president, and not just on X. Come to Congress and talk to the American people. He’s not afraid to do it—or at least, I don’t think he is. But if he really believes he’s right, if he really thinks he has the winning argument, then he should come here, mix it up with Democrats, and embarrass us with his information—if that’s what he thinks he can do. This was asked in the context of Johnson’s horribly failed “defunded policing policy.” Johnson responded by basically saying he’s not going to do anything. He said, “I am calling on all parents, community leaders, business leaders to stand together to make sure that we are creating opportunities for young people and that if they step up outside the bounds of our expectations, that we hold them accountable.” In other words, he has no plan. He’s hoping the people of Chicago will just figure it out. What he should do is impose stricter curfews, increase police presence, and raise legal penalties for breaking curfew.
