Suspects Arrested Following Project Magenta Investigation into Organized Property Crime Two adult males and two male youth are facing more than 200 charges following an investigation into numerous stolen vehicles and commercial break-and-enters across Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area. Project Magenta was launched by members of the... West Division Criminal Investigations Branch after investigators identified links between a series of commercial break-and-enters, vehicle thefts, attempted vehicle thefts, thefts from vehicles, fraud-related offences, and the use of stolen vehicles in the commission of the offences. Between June and September 2026, the group was responsible for 36 incidents across Durham Region and Toronto, including eight commercial break-and-enters and 15 vehicle theft-related offences involving stolen vehicles, attempted vehicle thefts, thefts from vehicles, and licence plate thefts. The investigation began after suspects committed two smash-and-grab break-ins at trading card retailers in Ajax on June 14, 2026, resulting in approximately $148,000 worth of merchandise being stolen. Investigators also linked the group to a break and enter at Oliver Jewellery in Pickering, where suspects allegedly used stolen vehicles in an attempt to force entry into the business. The businesses targeted included jewelery stores, cannabis dispensaries, trading card retailers, and pawn shops. Investigators determined that stolen vehicles were frequently used to facilitate offences, including incidents where vehicles were driven into storefronts to gain entry. The offences connected to Project Magenta resulted in nearly $1 million in known losses and damages to businesses, vehicle owners, and the community. “Organized property crime is not a victimless offence. It causes significant financial harm, undermines the community’s perception of safety, and fuels further criminal activity,” said Acting Deputy Chief Glenn Courneyea. Investigators from the West Division Crime Team, assisted by members of the Community Resource Unit and East Division Crime Team, executed multiple search warrants at residences throughout the Greater Toronto Area. According to the Saskatoon Police Service, the suspect allegedly used an altered driver’s licence and stolen identity documents to fraudulently purchase luxury vehicles, including a Land Rover and a BMW X5. Air1 Assists TPS in Locating Suspects in Shooting Investigation The DRPS Air1 helicopter assisted Toronto Police Service in the arrest of two suspects in a shooting investigation. On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at around 4:00 p.m., officers from Central West Division responded to the area of Thickson Road North and Taunton Road East after receiving information from Toronto Police Service that two suspects involved in a shooting in Toronto earlier that afternoon were in the area. Air1 conducted an aerial search of the area and located the suspect vehicle in a driveway of a residence in Whitby. Shortly after, the vehicle left the residence and Air1 followed the vehicle into Oshawa, providing updates to TPS and DRPS officers on the ground. At one point, the suspect got into another vehicle, which Air1 began to follow. At approximately 5:15 p.m., units were able to box in the vehicle the suspects fled on foot. Three Suspects Arrested After Carjacking in Oshawa Three suspects have been arrested after a carjacking in Oshawa. On Saturday, September, 13 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., members from Central East Division responded to a carjacking in the area of Nonquon Road and Mary Street North. The victim parked his vehicle in a parking lot when he was approached by three masked suspects. The suspects began assaulting the victim before leaving the area in the victim’s vehicle. Officers located the stolen vehicle travelling northbound on Stevenson Road and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop for police and continued northbound on Stevenson Road. Officers followed the vehicle and it went westbound on Conlin Road. The driver lost control, crashing the vehicle into a field at Conlin Road and Anderson Street. The three suspects then fled on foot into the greenspace. With the assistance of Air1, all parties were located and taken into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault and was treated at a local area hospital for his injuries. During a search of one of the suspects, officers seized a large knife and an airsoft gun. A 30-year-old male of no fixed address is charged with several offences including: Robbery with violence; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Exceeding $5,000.00; Disguise with Intent; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. A few days ago, I responded to reports of four children who were allegedly being neglected by their parents in Mowlem, Embakasi West. While my team and I were busy rescuing the children and ensuring they were taken to safety, criminals took advantage of the situation, broke into my vehicle, and stole several parts from it. Although I was deeply disappointed by the incident, I chose to share a video to expose the theft and appeal to the public for information that could help bring the perpetrators to justice. Today, I am pleased to report that officers from Pangani Police Station, under the able leadership of their OCS, acted swiftly and professionally. Through their vigilance and commitment to fighting crime, they arrested the suspects when they attempted to sell the stolen vehicle parts. The officers contacted me, and I have since positively identified the recovered parts as those stolen from my vehicle. I wish to sincerely commend the OCS and the entire team at Pangani Police Station for their dedication, professionalism, and quick response. Their excellent work demonstrates that when law enforcement and the public work together, criminals can be brought to justice. Your commitment to protecting wananchi and combating crime is truly appreciated. At the same time, I strongly condemn those involved in this theft. SUCCESS REPORT: For the past few months, a grey Haval Jolion has been actively targeting Toyota Corolla Cross vehicles across Gauteng, operating in multiple regions including the West Rand, Johannesburg, the East Rand, and Johannesburg South. VIDEO - AIR SUPPORT UNIT ASSISTS IN ARRESTS FOLLOWING JEWELRY STORE ROBBERY IN RICHMOND HILL Offices responded to a jewelry store robbery in the area of Yonge St and Levendale Rd in Richmond Hill yesterday, shortly after 3:30 p.m. Three suspects were seen using hammers to smash glass cases. A quantity of jewelry was stolen and the suspects fled in a silver SUV driven by a fourth suspect. One employee received minor injuries after being assaulted by one of the suspects. Using out Air Support Unit helicopter, Air2, the vehicle was located in the City of Toronto where the suspects fled but were quickly taken into custody. The vehicle used by the suspects was confirmed to be stolen. Of the four suspects charged, Marlando MITCHELL, 24 of Brampton, and the two youths, were out on a combined 10 release orders at the time of the incident. One of the youths was also on probation. “The teamwork demonstrated by York Regional Police is a testament to the professionalism and commitment our officers have in pursuing individuals who commit violent acts in our communities,” states Police Chief Jim MacSween. “Of the four suspects arrested, one adult and two youths were out on release orders. This is the moment an Armed Response Team was rammed while trying to stop a stolen car last night in west Belfast. The car was stolen at 1am in Ards before appearing on the Falls Road. The driver, a man aged 29, and his two male passengers, aged 30 and 35, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of offences including aggravated taking and driving away and causing damage to a vehicle. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/HOMICIDE ARRESTS Nearly four months after a failed jewelry store robbery left a 72-year-old man dead, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office detectives have made two arrests. On April 18, 2026, deputies responded to a jewelry store in the 7400 block of Stockton Blvd after multiple suspects attempted to rob the business. Investigators determined the group arrived in six recently stolen vehicles, including the one used to ram into the business. The suspects encountered an armed private security guard and fled. During the attempted robbery, the 72-year-old man was struck by the vehicle used to ram the business and suffered life-threatening injuries. He passed away 10 days later. Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) were instrumental in solving this murder. ALPR information provided detectives with critical investigative leads, allowing them to track vehicles associated with the suspects and connect evidence across jurisdictions. Without this technology, this murder would likely remain unsolved. Working with law enforcement partners throughout the Bay Area, detectives identified 24-year-old Alfredo Colmenero-Martinez of Oakland as the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim. Detectives also identified 35-year-old Jarren Frazier of Stockton as the individual responsible for planning and coordinating the attempted robbery. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office issued arrest warrants for Colmenero-Martinez for murder and Frazier for attempted robbery and conspiracy. On August 12, Major Crimes Bureau detectives arrested Colmenero-Martinez in Tracy and Frazier in Concord. Additionally, search warrants were served at four locations with assistance from the Oakland Police Department. Colmenero-Martinez and Frazier were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where both remain ineligible for bail.
