Switching from one agent ecosystem to another stinks. If only there were a way for you to switch between Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and others without having to leave all your stuff behind in their walled gardens! Today you can. Today, I launch Kody 🐨

Thank you! Hopefully I can make enough off of Kody to pay for it 😅

The painful part isn't learning a new agent UI. It's losing CLAUDE.md, rules, memory, and custom tools every switch. If Kody actually ports that context across Claude Code / Cursor / Codex, that's the real unlock.

Every agent keeps its own conversation history and file context in a different format, so none of it carries over when you switch.

Claude Code tied to Cursor makes the tool post feel much more concrete.

t3code vs kody

Kent C. Dodds 🐨's profile picture
Kent C. Dodds 🐨20 days ago

Different things entirely, and you can use them together! @grok, help explain please.

T3 Code is an open-source control surface (desktop/web/mobile GUI) that runs your existing coding agent CLIs like Claude Code, Codex or Cursor on your machine, with git worktrees, diffs and one-click PRs. Kody is the durable home for those agents: persistent memory, secrets, packages and automations via MCP that work across any host and keep running offline. Completely different layers. Use T3 Code to drive the agents while they plug into Kody for shared state and tools.

@samuellawrentz Glad the distinction clicked. Complementary layers for the win.

How does Kody handle moving your stuff between walled gardens like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex under the hood?

Come to the live stream today and I'll show you!

Will the stream show how context and configurations are translated between those three tools under the hood?

If you come live you can ask any specific questions you want.

Curious how Kody keeps skills and context portable across Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex without becoming another silo.

I was very confused about what Kody is. The homepage does a poor job explaining why i need it and what problem it solves, and how it does that. Only after watching the second part of the video it made sense. It's a great idea, basically it builds software/workflows for repeated work across agents?

Kent C. Dodds 🐨's profile picture
Kent C. Dodds 🐨19 days ago

That's correct! Working on the home page (again) today

Nothing new to learn section feels out of place. The flow is: Stop Sweating Switching Agents - OK tell me more Nothing new to learn - WTF? The hero should have quick explanation I think. And nothing new to learn should move down. From what I gather after looking around a bit more: Kody turns recurring prompts, mcp tool calls, and processes into durable workflows/software that all your agents can use without burning tokens.

The portability layer is the part I care about. If agent context, tools, and repo state can move with me, switching becomes a workflow decision instead of a migration project.

Lo que realmente se pierde al cambiar de agente no es el prompt, es el contexto acumulado (decisiones, patrones a evitar). Si Kody sincroniza eso entre Claude Code/Cursor/Codex, resuelve el problema real, no solo el UI switch.

Nice! So its a bit like MCP? Also what are "real accounts" ?

Portable context across agent gardens is the unlock I've been waiting on. Losing your skills and history every time you switch tools was the quiet tax.
