It would go on to become the top grossing film of the year and win three of its ten Academy Award Nominations including Best Picture. I don’t know how many times I saw this film growing up, but it was A LOT! Its success and impact highlighted the power of popular culture as I know I am certainly not the only one inspired by Rocky’s journey. Happy Birthday Rocky! And thank you to Sylvester Stallone for creating one of the most iconic and inspirational characters in film history! “Keep Punching!” Who’s watching Rocky tonight to celebrate?

Studios wanted the script but didn’t want Stallone starring in it. He turned down the money anyway because he believed in the vision and refused to let someone else play Rocky. He bet everything on himself and did whatever it took to make the movie happen. Go make it happen
