Months of relentless violence by Israeli state-backed settler militias, soldiers and police forces have achieved their goal: the last remaining families in the Palestinian community of Ras ‘Ein al-‘Auja left this week. The largest shepherding community in the southern Jordan Valley, and the last to survive, was home to about 800 people, roughly half of them children. The area has now been completely emptied of Palestinians. Since October 2023, Israel has forcibly displaced 45 Palestinian communities in the West Bank, comprising at least 3,501 people. Another 12 communities were partially displaced, with at least 455 peopledriven from their homes. Expelling communities and taking over tens of thousands of hectares are part of a policy of ethnic cleansing that Israel is implementing in the West Bank.

Since October 2023, Israel has killed at least 72,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and at least 1,050 in the West Bank. During this time, more than 80 Palestinian have died in Israeli prisons, which have become a network of torture camps where inmates are subjected to continuous abuse and violence. This is the video posted by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, after a PR visit to Ofer Prison, where Israel is holding Palestinian prisoners. Ofer is part of Israel’s network of torture camps for Palestinian prisoners. During the visit, Ben Gvir was given a showcase of violence and humiliation and took the opportunity to threaten handcuffed prisoners with the death penalty. Palestinian prisoners are subjected to extreme violence, deliberate humiliation, starvation, sleep deprivation, denial of medical treatment and abuse in every facility where they are held. As of February 2026, 9,243 Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons, about half of them under administrative detention or under the Unlawful Combatants Law – that is, without due process and with no opportunity to defend themselves against the allegations against them. Since October 2023, at least 84 Palestinians have died in Israeli custody as a result of torture and denial of medical treatment. They attacked homes and cars with stones, and set fire to three tents, a pre-fab, chicken coops and cars at several spots throughout the village. About 300 people live in the village, half of them minors. They are subjected to daily violence by settlers and the military, with the backing of all Israeli state authorities. Footage also shows a group of settlers trying to damage cameras to prevent documentation of the attack. None of the assailants were detained. Yesterday’s attack on Khirbet Susiya is part of Israel’s broader onslaught against Palestinians, who remain defenseless in the face of unchecked violence by militias and the Israeli military. Israel’s ethnic cleansing in the West Bank has so far displaced more than 4,000 Palestinians from their homes, with 51 communities expelled in their entirety and 14 communities in part.
