Fuck Dylan and anyone else pushing 'age verification' or 'ID verification' or any of these privacy invasive programs, no matter how 'well meaning' they are it's irrelevent. We have a right to privacy. Fuck anyone who try's to take that away, even if it's 'harmless'.

Kind of a waste of time, if you ask me. systemd's part of the larger problem...forking it keeps a bit of the rubbish around to begin with. The Woke notions being kept around...yeah. The notion that it's not, "enterprise," without that trash is silly.

Where is the 4th and 14th Amendments? Where is my bill of rights and why does Dylan's interpretation Rob me of them?

why they want to enforce age verification on linux but not on windows ,haven't see a single post complaining about windows 11 asking for age

systemd is used for services and with linux distro as an multi user OS then keeping a single user birthday to the systemd is the big lie

Anybody pushing Age Verification upstream is an obvious government plant and should be banned from commits. If they want to enforce something then they should create their own fork and see how many individuals actually choose to use it.

"Here, we stole the formula for the poison that has been slowly killing you and we made a version of it that tastes better." What forking systemd and making superfluous changes really is. Just use something else.

Nah, we need to fight this bullshit and not comply in any way! If CA/CO/Brazil wanna play stupid games, let them suffer by not doing business with them!

I whole heartedly disagree with him about this. You don't fight something like this by complying with it, but I would never personally attack him for it. I'd rather just say I'm done with systemd. I'd rather go back to gentoo and openrc. And I did.

I think the accusation of being paid to make a OS contribution isn't about how easy something is, but the likelihood of being accepted. That includes having the articulation and know how to defend the position.

I think we need to start maintaining git patches to remove these changes. We can allow the devs to comply then revert and compile locally. If devs want to be helpful they can just have system quite removed from the rest code.

You can't let people add features no one wants, unless you want to be dropped by everyone. Have legal issues because some authoritarian country has dark plans?: Make sure your organization is not legally based in that country. It's not universal law.

All these companies are talking hard until one of them gets that crazy fine. Then every one of them will do age verification or shut down. It sucks but honestly encouraging them to break the law is only dooming them. They need to work on how to get those laws changed or suing them.

Feels like developers need to have continuous communication with their users especially depending on how critical of a system they are working on. In this case, developers need to state why this is impossible to implement the way government wants it to.
