Government has approved ratification of the Optional Protocol of the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Right now, Republicans are still trying to scrape the votes together to pass the Big Ugly Bill – and we need to keep spreading the word about how devastating the cuts in this bill really are. The Big Ugly Bill is the most significant loss of health care coverage in American history. Children with disabilities, cancer patients, seniors in nursing homes, and working families are going to lose the care they depend on. But I’ve been fighting for my constituents since day one – and I’m not stopping now.

She left the hospital and just received the bill It’s over $27,000 and she has an entire stack of bills from this one visit. Her portion on one bill is over $4,200 and then she has a large amount of envelopes for additional bills She says she’s broke, doesn’t own any assets and will have to open up a new credit card to pay this This is not how healthcare should be run. 👉 I oppose the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026, as this bill was introduced in Parliament without due consultation with transgender persons and other stakeholders. This itself shows the callous attitude of the Modi government. 👉 This Bill is not a reform; it is a regression. It takes away what the Constitution and the Supreme Court of India have already guaranteed. The Bill deletes the right to self-determination. 👉 Many transgender persons have already spoken about the immense barriers they face in securing a simple ID card. By adding more bureaucratic hurdles, we are not protecting them; we are exhausting them into invisibility. 👉 The Bill must be referred to the Standing Committee for detailed and inclusive consultation with the transgender community and all stakeholders.
