It was truly a blessing for me and my wife to travel with The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square to Brazil. I am grateful for this assignment as it is something I never dreamed of doing. Accompanying the The Tabernacle Choir in my home country, in the very city where I grew up, was an incredible experience. These concerts were invitations to come unto Christ, the true source of hope. I am thankful for the Choir and Orchestra for sharing their talents with thousands this week in Brazil and around the world.

Marking 100 years since The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square’s first performance at the Hollywood Bowl in 1926, this historic return united music and humanitarian purpose in a celebratory concert benefitting women and children around the world. One hundred percent of ticket sales revenue from the concert will be donated to CARE, Helen Keller Intl, and The Hunger Project. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will match the revenue from concert ticket sales, thereby doubling the charitable contributions associated with the event. In Church News Today this Tuesday, Jan. 27: The Church has endorsed the first female active-duty Navy chaplain for the Church. Lt. j.g. Stacie Powell completed the U.S. Naval Chaplaincy School Basic Leadership Course in November. The 49-year-old wife, mother and grandmother is currently stationed at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, near Oaks Harbor, Washington. She says that in times of doubt, she has taken those doubts to the Lord and felt a calm reassurance to have faith and keep going. Read more about her journey at or on the Church News app. The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square have announced the dates for three concerts in São Paulo, Brazil. This is the latest stop on the “Songs of Hope” tour in February and March. The tour has previously stopped in Mexico, the Philippines, the southeastern United States and Argentina.

To stand on that iconic stage with The Tabernacle Choir and receive such an overwhelming response from the audience is something I’ll never take for granted. Thank you for the standing ovations, the love, and the memories I’ll carry with me forever. 💜

In 2024, a total of 22 hymns were released as part of the new global hymnbook “Hymns—For Home and Church.” More songs will continue to be released in batches every few months until the release of the full hymnbook in several languages in 2026. #generalconference

A rare moment: an American choir from NYC performed an original piece in English at the Pope’s Wednesday audience. The choir is from stpaultheapostlenyc and they performed “Love More” composed by parishioner J. Oconer Navarro, directed by Joey Chancey. The lyrics were adapted from Pope Leo’s first speech and inaugural homily, written for the choir’s pilgrimage to Italy for the 2025 Jubilee and dedicated to the communities of Annunciation Church in Minneapolis.
