The visor is what makes the DAS usable. Six apertures around the airframe, all projected into the pilot's line of sight. Shooting these at RIAT, that coating is a nightmare against a bright sky.

Ground crew is conduct functional movement checks on the 20 millimeter cannon of an AH-1Z. The Bell AH-1Z Viper uses the M197 20mm three-barrel Gatling cannon mounted in a chin turret. What makes it effective is not just the gun itself, but how it can be aimed in three different ways depending on the mission and pilot input. 1) Fixed forward (boresight / aircraft-aligned) In this mode, the cannon is pointed straight ahead, aligned with the helicopter’s nose. 2) Sensor-slewed / electro-optical tracking Here, the cannon is linked to the helicopter’s targeting sensors (EO/IR turret), see on the video. 3) Helmet/Head-Tracked aiming (pilot line-of-sight cueing) In this mode, the gun can be cued by the pilot’s head movement via the helmet-mounted display system. 🎥 🅾 hmla169_vipers

The deployment of U-2 reconnaissance aircraft to the region is a key signal that the United States may be preparing for a large-scale, multi-domain combined air campaign. Such an operation would likely involve stealth fighters such as the F-22 and F-35, with the U-2 serving as a critical communications bridge between them.
