As a former D1 track runner. I don’t approve this message lmao. Not for the games or matches ..but practice? Baby please. My hair is not about to be messed up just because we want to appease to other communities on how we “look”. The hell.

I grew up being told wearing a bonnet outside was tacky and it definitely was not to appease white people. Being trifling is just widely accepted now.

Sad the white man got you doing that because we’ve always worn that on our heads. The name might be different now but I grew up with my grandmother wearing it A LOT. Even out in these streets. Then pale skin made fashion out of it and now we can’t wear it. Just like this.

No,I hard disagree, all she's saying is that the whites have a problem w/ it, that whole mixed company thing. In 2025 the lesson needs to be white ppl stop assuming negative things about Black ppl just cuz we may do things different, whites should have to learn to treat ppl better

I’ll say this much. I love that the natural hair movement has grown but I still think more and more people of our community should focus on nurturing our own real hair. As someone who has been in the hair business I’ve noticed many people wear wigs etc and don’t take care of the hair underneath it.

If that’s the rules for her team, that’s her rules. Keep it simple, don’t join her program if you disagree. It ain’t gotta be a think piece.

She got it backwards. You should’ve be able to wear a scarf or wrap during practice so you don’t ruin your hair but take it off before the game.

This is anti black why our daughters gotta sweat out their hairstyles at practice? Who does it hurt

Why is it that Black people have to conform to white folk standards but it’s not the other way around? Bonnets have nothing to do with the actual playing on the field or court. It’s just respectability politics dressed up as faux empowerment.

Most people dont understand you have to act and look like you have sense in public. Just because you live in the hood doesn’t mean that’s how you should act!!!!

Why did Black women start wearing night clothes in public anyway? Thankfully I missed this trend. I was raised to be careful about my appearance and dress appropriately in public.

No matter what we do we still that ni$$a too them. This has been going on since the beginning over 700 years ago now. Hair coverings are actually ancestral and it will never go away. They didn’t like our Afros they said it was to big, the still don’t like locs AKA dreads locs…some schools and sports won’t even allow it, they even cut them off ….they complain about braids( for years ) ✅ and every year it’s a complaint about bonnets… FCK them people. They hate the air we breathe. DO YOU

The Bonnet Brigades are policing us too hard about what is on top of our hears. They don't like afros, braids, weaves, fades, dreads, and now bonnets. They might as well just tell us to stop wearing our whole head.

Hey ladies if you are going to the school to pick up your child can you not wear bonnets, please? Can the furry house shoes also stay in the car too? I'm just saying can you not look like you just rolled out of bed when you are out in public to pick up the lil ones?

I’m glad my parents instilled home training. When you leave the house, you should look presentable. I remember wanting to run to the store with my mom and she’d stop me like, “Um, you need to run an iron over those clothes or find some that ain’t wrinkled if you want to go”

Wassup profil fotoğrafı
Wassup1 yıl önce

Bonnets are meant for the home and why would you want a bonnet trapping in that hot ass air and sweat on top of your head for practice anyway?? Sweat comes from pores wearing bonnet is not protecting your hairstyle lol

I only agree with her stance on presentation showing up to a game. Outside of that decorum is irrelevant as long as you are retaining the training.

Wearing bonnets in public (or videos) is not appropriate or flattering. Too many only take it off for jobs, party or Church. Bonnets need to come off for sports (think scouts) or social stuff, like restaurants. Youth must learn there is a time and place.

It's her opinion on bonnets out in public & it's how she's going to run her program. Don't like it transfer.
