Being a whistleblower and a top cop does not make one immune to error, irresponsible behaviour and critique. The EFF has always had this kind of relationship with Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and all functionaries of the state. That is what Mkhwanazi is, a functionary of the state who has chosen to speak out. A functionary of the state, a state which has been run through the political outcomes of the ANC, is not infallible. Ronnie Kasrils, Mbazima Shilowa and many ANC stalwarts, including Mkhwanazi himself have stated the reality that intelligence and law enforcement has been compromised by the process and outcomes of ANC conferences. What would make Mkhwanazi immune to this political reality? What is wrong about pointing that out? No one in this country must have a blank cheque and South Africans must never be blackmailed into silence by people who think law enforcement is like supporting Kaizer Chiefs through thick and thin. This is law enforcement of a country, and a functionary of that is making sweeping unsubstantiated statements about politicians when he does not like what they have to say about him, selectively. Never must we descend public discourse and our democracy into a fan club. Exhibit A of how Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has been irresponsible when society sought to peacefully protest against the state of load shedding and Phala Phala Corruption in 2023z Seemingly this correct criticism warranted non-stop nodding behind Julius Malema three years ago.

Cyril Ramaphosa, and the entire Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Police, especially its chairperson should testify at the #MadlangaCommission. For CR: he must answer this: “can you confirm that Mchunu told you about disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team? If yes, why did you agree?” For Portfolio Committee on Police: when Mkhwanazi told you about disbandment of political killings team and Minister Mchunu argued that it was done in concert with President, why did you not probe political interference into police operations and hold the executive accountable? In the video below: Mchunu firstly says the task team can’t operate without a deadline. Secondly, he dismisses the doctrine upon which it was established- I.e. these are not “political killings”. Instead he argues they are pure crime. Then he says he has consulted the president, despite the fact that they reported to a ministerial team, and not presidential. That the president has agreed to the approach he is taking: meaning disbandment of the team. The basis Mchunu advances differs fundamentally with the Moerane Commission findings: that what is occurring in KZN are Political Killings motivated by fight over tenders, although largely “intra-party” based. Also, that there was politicisation of the police and criminal justice system. This makes a good basis for why the Political Task Killings Team was “Multidisciplinary”; inclusive of SAPS, NPA etc. and it therefore succeeded in massively reducing the political assassinations in KZN. A factor Mkhwanazi credits for why other high profile cases were added to them. The portfolio committee heard all of this. But did not probe political interference! Neither did they ask if the minister’s decision is constitutional. They simply moved on with business as usual. They too must account! Secondly, if Ramaphosa agreed with this, we ought to be told why if the Task Team had not finished with cases referred to it by this time. Especially if this team HAD NEVER HAD ANY REPORTING MEETING with Mchunu. How did he know it was no longer necessarily when he had not engaged its report? PA Rejects Drug Trade Allegations Against Gayton McKenzie After Claims Surface in the Ad Hoc Committee The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has firmly rejected allegations linking its leader, Gayton McKenzie who serves as South Africa's Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, to the drug trade. It's only a matter of time before we learn whether the other allegations contained in that letter are also true ,especially those concerning the politicians it mentions, their alleged involvement in drug activities, to one of them being allegedly found at Mr Molefe's house on the day of the raid.
