If for two or three weeks, everyone would stop buying anything except the bare essentials, prices would go down. We the people control the market, not the corporations.

Targets not the only company that was busted for doing this, a seven year old discovered Walmart was doing the same thing.

This is nothing new. Retailers have been doing this shit for decades. They all do it. Kohls, Amazon, just about every retailer you can think of does this bullshit.

I can say, this is true. The Target in Kansas City, KS on parallel parkway is doing the same exact thing. Has to be a corporate decision. I am done with Target.

not to defend Target, but the price on the box appears to be from the manufacturer & is usually marked “MSRP” (manufacturer suggested retail price). HOWEVER, margin needs to be made for businesses to function (think overhead costs, logistics costs, labor etc) and then the retailer will mark their goods accordingly. Depending on how much Target bought the tree, the margin% varies… (revenue - cogs)/revenue then multiply 100 = %margin

Amazon retailers do this for Black Friday. They mark up all of their prices a week prior or day prior just to bring them down to the original listing price they had prior and claim “45% off” it’s all a scam.

Could be left over from last year. Pricing is based on replacement costs.

Bro Target out here pulling the kind of scam you’d expect from a shady gas station run by a dude named “Rick” who sells expired beef jerky and vape chargers from 2017. They plaster a big “SALE” sticker on the Christmas tree like it’s some heroic gift to humanity, acting like Santa himself punched the price down from $75 to $52.50, meanwhile the REAL price hiding under their little sticker cosplay was cheaper than both. That ain’t a sale, that’s corporate catfishing, that’s Black Friday with a ski mask, that’s holiday robbery with twinkly lights. These corporations treat us like we flunked 3rd-grade math, thinking we won’t notice when they slap a fake price on top of the real price and then tell us we “saved money.” Saved what? Saved who? The only thing getting saved is THEIR quarterly earnings. This is why nobody trusts these big box stores, they’ve turned Christmas into a damn psychological operation. Next time I’m peeling every sticker like I’m defusing a bomb because apparently that’s the only way to find the real price in America now.

I haven’t shopped in Target for years. Not since they pushed their gender nonsense by highlighting their ‘tuck it’ swimsuits for boys encouraging them to pretend to be girls.

Theory Only: If those boxes are left over from last year, they have last year's price printed on them, right? But...we have to claim tariffs have inflated everything, so the "regular" price this year MUST be greater than last... (This is just a theory.)

Target is a terrible place to shop at but women are addicted to it. Just cause Star bucks are in them. They offer terrible sales. Go Walmart everytime.

In the late 1980s I was admiring a stunning side chair for my living room. The price was $400. Finally, the store had an ad in the newspaper for 50% off. I ran to the store. The price tag said $800 with a line drawn through it. The "sale" price was $400.

Same at Dollar Tree, $1.25 price covered. They've had stock in American warehouses for a year, they're lying about this stuff being effected by tariffs. Ppl give trees away on marketplace. I saved 8 from the dump at one time & gave them to ppl who couldn't afford one.

Hobby lobby has a tree that was "699.99" now its "349.99". Who pays that much for a faux tree?

Well, here's where EU is supreme over US. In Europe when you have a sale you need to display the lowest price in last 30 days. Thanks to that we can compare how much you can "save". In this case Target would show $50 next to "regular" $75 and sale price of $52.50.

Manger decor with baby Jesus Going to church Potlucks with relatives School choir concerts Love and appreciation It has become: Consumer consumption Greed Materialism Going into debt buying presents & decor Exhaustion decorating Exhaustion un-decorating Fearing other's disappointment that you did not fulfill their holiday. We are kept so busy by the modern interpretation and standards, we can't actually appreciate the reason for the season.

Dollar Tree has been putting stickers on their products since they upped their pricing. This isn't a scam. Who knows, the manufacturer of the labels may have made an error before it was printed...They can charge whatever they want...
