Tariffs are an important tool in the toolkit to protect industry. But tariffs shouldn't be thrown around in this chaotic, will-he-won’t-he way — and we shouldn’t treat Canada like China.

Michigan will be the single most impacted state in the country between industry and farming.

Here’s what could get more expensive with Trump’s new tariffs.

Canada and Mexico are not America. You support America and America alone. Pathetic. I am ashamed you represent Michigan.

Trade policy failures crushed American manufacturing. Just look at Michigan. Decades of loopholes let foreign automakers hollow out our industrial base while bureaucrats rubber-stamped deals that shipped jobs overseas. Now they're complaining about 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico that finally level the playing field. The numbers tell the story. Canadian energy gets a 10% rate because they play fair. But auto parts? That's where the real damage happened. When Ottawa and Mexico City hit back with counter-tariffs, it exposed how broken the old system was. Fixing trade means more than tweaking rates. The whole failed framework that created this mess needs a complete overhaul. Real reform means tracking every trade deal with full transparency and making sure anyone exploiting American workers pays the price. Fair trade isn't optional in a competitive world. For our industrial communities, it's the difference between good jobs and getting left behind.

And just how did you get your vast knowledge on Tarriffs? If you don't mind, I'll go with the business billionaires on this one. I'm not sure you've ever had a job??

@jim_hilt Senator…You are not reading the tea leaves accurately. The Dems need to be tougher and more forceful. This careful moderate approach is why we lose. Americans are outraged and feel hoodwinked by Trump and Musk.

This is a garbage answer. It won’t be long before women’s sports is eliminated. How many men in women’s sports is too many? Half a team? A whole team?

I am not a fan of tariffs on Canada, but they have tariffs on us, too. And they have done nothing to assist with that border. I am 100% behind Trump when it comes to stopping the trafficking

Same goes for incompetent Dem massive deficit spending! 10 year projected spending (per CBO) has INCREASED $28.1 TRILLION ($76,000+ per citizen including children) since Dems took over in Jan ‘21. 2054 Debt = $142 trillion Slotkin voted for ALL of it over the last 4 years.

You are shaping up to be one Shitty Senator. Enjoy your 6 years of free money! Hopefully you will be in the Minority the whole time!!

Why has Canada been hitting us with unfair tariffs of sometimes 2 and 300% on itens, but us now simply EQUALLING their tariffs is unjust?
