Tariffs could make an already expensive sport even more costly. So what does that mean for families trying to keep their kids on the ice?

Fake news. ’Some vendors raised prices 11–30% during earlier tariff uncertainty and kept the higher prices even after those duties were paused.’ ‘Of roughly 2.1 million hockey sticks imported last year, about 74% came from China, 13% from Mexico, and only 0.9% (~19,000) from Canada.’

Fake News. Most Hockey gear is not made in Canada. The most expensive cost is ice time. 🙄

OR, “stick” with me here. You could buy an American made stick. How the heck have you never heard of Christian Brothers sticks. Made in Minnesota.

It looks like the Minnesota media all got their talking points this morning. They do make hockey equipment other places besides Canada.

Exaggerating much? You cherry pick goalie equipment prices. One player out of the entire team, and yes this position has historically had the most expensive equipment. BTW, us sourced equipment is available too…

Won't anyone think of the youth hockey players? You're not a newspaper. You're a comic book.

@ChrisEgertKSTP Yeah, I checked Pure hockey this morning and you guys should have done the same before running this BS report. First page was all normal pricing!

Sounds like an opportunity for a Minnesota company to produce hockey equipment.

Instead of sensationalizing the highest prices you could find, you missed a great opportunity to report to on the fabulous organizations around the state of Minnesota that collect and redistribute used equipment for free. Or report on equipment made in Minnesota / USA.

Only 5-10% of hockey equipment is produced in Canada. Real journalists who aren't partisan liars would have researched that.

60 billion dollar deficit every year in trade with Canada. What ever happened to pay your fair share? Trumps right. They use us. No more.

BS! The associations are the reason for astronomical fees! They’ve priced most families out years ago. It’s well over $2000 for a squirt to play plus tournaments fees, hotel, and travel. Quit blaming tariffs instead of the greed by the associations.

Every hockey parent in the state knows a great equipment exchange. If you are a parent paying retail then the costs of living don’t affect you anyway. KSTP, try looking at the bigger picture.

@KSTP is the dumbest of the news channels. That’s breaking news btw. Experts and anonymous sources agree.
