We’re cramming kids with useless stuff like valence electrons, photosynthesis, and iambic pentameter while skipping the hands-on trades that actually build America. Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, construction, these jobs pay serious money, need no college debt, and lead to real freedom and entrepreneurship. Big thanks to the mentors showing the way. This is extremely serious “The literacy crisis is worse than you think it is. I'm an ex-high school history and government teacher” She explains most students cent read past a 4 letter word and students fail consistently at spelling their own name correctly, in high school…. “It's not just that the kids can't read. I mean, they can't. If it's longer than a 4 letter word, then go ahead and count that as a loss. They don't know how to capitalize. They don't know how to punctuate. They can't write more than a paragraph. Honestly, a paragraph is generous, but it's more than that. They have no reading comprehension. They have no critical thinking skills. They can't read an article or a paragraph and pull out critical information in order to help answer a question. And I know a lot of you are thinking like, "Well, you're the teacher. That's your job is to teach them how to do those things." And it's like, well, actually, I'm a high school history teacher. They are past the point of me teaching them how to read higher than an elementary school reading level. My job isn't to teach them how to read. That was the teachers before them. And I'm not blaming them either — it's a much bigger problem than me just not teaching them how to read. I had a student in high school who could not consistently spell their name correctly on the paper. Literally, I would get it, and it'd be spelled different every time and obviously not right every single time. A dad’s greatest skill is knowing when to lose. I honestly love that he saw the prank through the door and didn't even hesitate to ruin his afternoon just to give them a win. Most of us would’ve yelled about the cleaning up, but he understood that those few seconds of chaos were worth way more than a tidy hallway. It’s a masterclass in "letting them win" because when you let your kids 'get' you, you’re actually teaching them that they’re clever enough to take on the world and build everlasting memories.

At the risk (i.e., the absolute certainty) of repeating myself, I want to remind you that the opportunities currently available in the skilled trades are NOT limited to men. Not by a long shot. This week, as further proof, I present the unexampled, unrelenting, indefatigable…Judaline Cassidy. Judaline is a plumber, working out of Local Union #1 in Long Island City, the oldest plumber’s union in the country. But she’s more than a 4’9” firecracker with a 10-foot personality from Trinidad and Tobago, determined to be the best plumber in America. She’s also the force behind Tools & Tiaras Inc.®️, a nonprofit that exposes young girls to the opportunities in the trades while showing them just how far a person can go with a decent work ethic and the mastery of a useful skill. There is no playbook for closing America’s skills gap. The stigmas and stereotypes that keep millions of students from giving the trades an honest look are real, and disabusing society of these misconceptions will require a legion of highly motivated business leaders, educators, and sensible politicians. Your skills should specify: • How to navigate and use your product • Best practices the agent must follow • Detailed instructions on how to accomplish things • Anti-patterns to avoid Redis is one of the most popular in-memory data stores in the world, and they just released their agent skills. It takes one second to install, and it will turn your agent into a Senior Redis Engineer: $ npx skills add redis/agent-skills In the attached video, I show you how to install it as a plugin in Claude Code and some of its benefits. This is the easiest way to "teach" models what they don't know and keep their knowledge up to date. If you ask me, skills is literally one of the most brilliant ideas that Anthropic has put out there. If you use Redis, their skill is a must-have. If you don't, this skill will show you how to build and structure yours. Here is what their skill teaches your agent: 1. Current patterns for common use cases: caching, rate limiting, session management, vector search, semantic caching, pub/sub, streams. 2. Which data structure to use and when: hashes vs. JSON vs. sorted sets vs. vector sets. 3. Anti-patterns to avoid: no KEYS in loops, no unbounded key growth, no large values that amplify every operation. 4. Production-aware defaults: connection pooling, pipelining, cluster compatibility, error handling that doesn't silently swallow failures.
