High school classes that Gen X took that no longer exist. I really think they should bring these classes back. We also had a class called Daily Living that taught real-world skills. Too many young adults today don’t know how to do basic things to get by in the world. What classes do you think they should bring back into classrooms today that would help young adults?

Atta girl, Amelia!! If only even half of parents had her integrity and will, we would all be in much better shape societally. Stand up and speak out! Hold these elitist authoritarians accountable and bankrupt every last one of these school districts until these crony board members are the ones who finally learn. Proud of her, but we shouldn't be waiting for kids to speak up for themselves, although we also need more kids who are aware and active too. But parents need to get involved and hold these tyrants' feet to the flames, even if it means having to homeschool en mass.

There is absolutely zero room for compromise when it comes to the safety of our children and school staff. 🛡️🏫 In a world where we are constantly reminded of how fragile school security can be, seeing a school resource officer stand her ground like this isn’t just "policy"—it’s a necessity. It’s about more than just an ID; it’s about a commitment to the "tiny humans" who depend on us to keep their environment a sanctuary for learning and growth. I don't care what your "audit" says or what your YouTube channel needs for views. If you can’t show identification at the door of an elementary school, you don’t belong inside. Period. We teach our kids to follow rules, to respect authority, and to be mindful of strangers. Why should it be any different for adults? Our schools aren't public parks or town halls; they are places where our future generations should feel 100% protected. Kudos to this officer for prioritizing those kids over a camera lens. As somebody that taught high school and basically educating our new young adults, we should all be scared. This is the state of education in Namibia. Apparently these are Hereo and Nama learners fighting amongst each other. I am not sure which school this is but honorable Elijah Ngurare Manongo this matter needs to be investigated as soon as possible. We cannot have school going learners participating in tribal war and violence. The school environment also needs to be investigated because sometimes, these children see and hear how teachers treat each other due to ongoing internal tribal conflict. These are the learners we are expected to teach and discipline, as teachers, we are not even safe around the children we teach. There’s a lot we are not unpacking in terms of tribal tension that’s currently brewing in our country and if we are not careful, it will not go down well. This is also bullying, the question is, where did it start? Who started it and why are our learners so comfortable fighting in the streets after school? Parents, what’s your role in this? Let that sink in.

I am sure that at whatever level you occupy there are signifiers of the social classes above you that we may be ignorant of. One example may be discussing social class!

That we have people in government who can make discretionary decisions about where we're going to build transmission lines, how we're going to improve transit, where we're going to build housing, how we're going to regulate this and that. We want bureaucracies to be able to move speedily and make decisions in the public interest. It's the reforms we've seen since the 60s and 70s that have slowed government down so they cannot be responsive to the corporate challenge. The idea that we should abandon abundance in the name of attacking corporations misses the point that government should be a competent institution that can accurately — and thoroughly — review and challenge corporations when they're doing wrong.
