This is known as color separation (CS). Seen in games like KOFXIII (go buy it). It's an inexpensive tactic to create alternate costumes. Each item has its own slot on the color table. Additional items are drawn in manually. Gloves, foot guards, Ryu's beard etc

I pay for everything out of pocket. If I did a demo I’d lose all exclusivity. Leaks, stealing, etc kills morale. Only way to create a unique experience is to complete everything as a full package. After that? Resources are free to use by anyone and we’d get to release ourselves.
