The Defence Ministry has condemned the Thai military for firing on Cambodian civilians in Banteay Meanchey province, killing one and injuring three. Defence Ministry spokeswoman Lieutenant General Maly Socheata said that the Thai soldiers fired on the Cambodians at 3:30 pm in Prey Chan village of Ou Chrov district. The gunfire resumed at 5:54 p.m., with Thai troops continuing their military activities in the area. Socheata also said Cambodian forces and local authorities present at the scene were unarmed during the incident and focused on ensuring the safety of nearby civilians.
