Cambodians Gather in Siem Reap to Sing National Songs SIEM REAP — On July 27, Cambodian citizens gathered at Pub Street, one of the most popular nightlife destinations in the cultural heart of Siem Reap, to collectively sing national songs such as “Pong Savada Khmer” and “Suvannaphumi Dei Khmer.” The public display of unity comes as Thai military aggression enters its fourth day, with at least 30 lives lost on both sides. The gathering aimed to express national solidarity and support for those affected by the ongoing conflict.

Foreigners Applaud Cambodia’s Peace Spirit, Call It a Safe Destination PHNOM PENH – Foreigners are recommending Cambodia to international travelers, affirming the Southeast Asian country as safe, with lovely and united people. William Meyer, a U.S. resident who has been living in Cambodia for four years, said he has never experienced any safety-related issues. Meanwhile, a French family of four who has been in the country for nearly two weeks and plans to spend their Christmas vacation in Siem Reap province said they were surprised by how beautiful the country is and how warm and welcoming the people are. They also took part in the December 18 March for Peace amid border tensions, expressing Cambodia’s spirit of peace and calling for respect for the ceasefire. Organized by the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), the three-kilometer march began at the night market and ended at the Independence Monument.

Ceasefire's Hope Underlies Extra Vigilance PHNOM PENH--Cambodians are embracing the recent ceasefire with Thailand as a sign of hope and relief after five days of conflict. The ceasefire represents a crucial step towards healing the wounds and rebuilding divided communities. Our journalist talked to a few Cambodians in Phnom Penh. However, they remain cautious, aware that tensions could resurface if underlying issues aren't addressed fully, knowing that lasting peace requires vigilance and dialogue between conflicting parties to prevent future clashes. Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to resume direct communication following five days of armed clashes, after a ceasefire fully came into effect last night, according to Lieutenant-General Maly Socheata, spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense. The country, however, rejects the statement from the Thai Army that Cambodia broke the agreement, following reports that the country still opens fire into Thai territory.

Students fled their classrooms in fear on the morning of December 8 after Thai military attacks erupted along the border between Cambodia and Thailand. The Ministry of Education has ordered the temporary closure of schools in Oddar Meanchey to ensure the safety of students and teachers. According to the National Defence Ministry, the incident occurred at about 5:04 a.m., when Thai military forces allegedly opened fire on Cambodian units stationed at several locations stretching from the An Ses area in Preah Vihear province to Tamoan Thom in Oddar Meanchey province.

The Cambodian diaspora holds a rally to call for peace in the ongoing armed conflict between Thailand and Cambodia in front of the Victoria Parliament in the state of Victoria, Australia. Clashes Leave 28 Injured at Cambodian-Thai Border BANTEAY MEANCHEY – Clashes broke out on September 17 between Thai forces and Cambodians at Chouk Chey village, with Thai troops firing rubber bullets and tear gas that left around 28 people injured. Families Near Border Relocate Again Amid Ongoing Instability ODDAR MEANCHEY— Several families from different villages near the border areas in Banteay Ampil District are relocating again on August 13 after being advised that the situation isn't stable enough for them to stay at home. They stop and set up temporary shelters in Bansay Reak commune in Samraong city, waiting for conditions to improve so they can return home. However, they said if the situation worsens, they will consider moving further, possibly as far as the Bat Thkav campsite in Chong Kal District, where they stayed after the July 24 clashes.
