Tesla FSD v14.2 sometimes still makes these odd and unnecessary lane changes It was in the correct lane to begin with, switched, and immediately returned

Today my FSD 14.2 waited too late to get into the proper lane for a left turn. It signaled for the lane change after the adjacent lane was full of cars. By the time one of them finally offered room to change lanes, FSD had given up and pulled forward in the straight lane and rerouted. The whole situation could have been avoided if FSD had started trying at 1 mile instead of waiting until 0.5 miles before the turn.

Yes. but think about it, isn't it great that we are now at the point that things like too many lane changes are pissing people off. instead of too many interventions?

Looks like the human driver in lane one was driving slower than the Tesla and when the Tesla went into the right lane, it sped up and the car went back behind it again.

Talk about a non-event that didn't need a Tweet....

As testers it’s important we talk about the good, the bad, and the unnecessary

There is also big problem with navigation system. It picks wrong routes or long routes which also affects FSD.

Yesterday my 14.2 CT kept suggesting it was going to change lanes, turning on the blinker for one blip four times, never actually changed lanes. I get the feeling it's learning, and of course ultimately it will make a safer decision than the humans, just interesting behavior now

I'm very frustrated with it 14.2, I've gone back to having to constantly bilp the accelerator and manually do lane changes because it's too hesitant or goes too slow. 14.1 was better in my opinion

My 14.2 took an exit out of my gym that it never takes, defying the route in the map, then took a back road it never takes, just to get to an unprotected left turn at a hill top at night. I was there for two cycles of traffic lights and just took over myself. Unexplainable

Looked like it was trying to overtake, but later understood that it would need much more speed and cancelled

You have Mad Max mode on. Of course it's looking for opportunities to pass. If you don't like that behavior, turn it back to Hurry or Standard.

NO KIDDING. Also, the number of PHANTOM BRAKING episodes has exponentially increased. What in the world happened?

I have had an incredible amount of issues with V14 so far. The random braking, the hesitancy of turns, odd lane shifts. 14 in my opinion has been a dramatic step back from 13. Still on 14.1.4. updates seem to be coming in very slowly lately. (Still no Tron update)

It needs to stick to the right lane that's why it probably switched to the right side and then returned on the left ad soon as it found more slow traffic ahead

Navigation system errors, imo. This happens 90% of the time at certain spots a drive frequently. Oddly, 10% of the time it doesn’t.

#FSD V14.1 is so annoying with the unnecessary lane change, I have to turn it off to avoid embarrassment, I miss my 13.6

I woulda done the same thing to see if I could get around the guy going slower than me in the left lane. Decided it couldn’t and returned

Must have been trained in the Bronx

I’ve thought that perhaps the car isn’t “looking” (thinking) far enough ahead to know really which lane it needs to be in and then also think strategically about which lane is best given the current traffic situation.

Notice that on mostly on urban highways configurations. Is it correcting itself based on real world vs mapping.

Same issues here, it even hesitates when attempting to change lanes.

The car does that because you have the rainbow visualization enabled.

It should have done nothing or switched and then passed. Not very “sentient.” I wonder if it wanted to pass but was nerfed by the new limits on speed

Yep. Ditto

V14.2 is worse, the car has the speed limit wrong on the roads I drive, the old version I could set my max speed to get around it, now I can’t so I have no choice but to drive the car @Tesla Go back to allow the driver to set a max speed on a road or update road speed limits asap

I noticed the exact same thing (14.2 - Mad Max mode).

Yes, it does. If I have time, I’ll let it be in the hopes that it will learn from those little mistakes. In the end, it is pretty good getting into the right lane.

Mine was also hesitating to make lane changes.

Sentient……

V14 has a lot of regressions to v12 behavior. I caught it losing speed on rural roads today.

How about the horrible nav data?

This has been happening to me.

Perhaps its a way for the car to collect additional data to better process traffic and road conditions. Don't hate brilliance.

I wonder if that’s the context window resetting or if it has a rolling context and maybe it’s forgetting the situation mapping, or maybe it’s just straight-up hallucinations.
