This traffic circle has been a long-standing pain point for me on FSD. As you can see, the car consistently drives in the bike lane here. I’ve documented this behavior before on FSD 12, 13, and now 14. The issue appears to stem from outdated map data. This section of the circle used to function as a two-way roadway. At the time, there was no bike lane and vehicles traveled in the space FSD still prefers today. Since the redesign, that area is now a dedicated bike lane, but FSD doesn’t reliably recognize the change. Depending on the version, it will occasionally handle this correctly, but most of the time it does not. This is currently the only issue I consistently experience with FSD. It’s not safety critical. The car will move if a cyclist, vehicle, or object is present, but reliance on outdated map data in locations like this needs to improve.

There’s a broken down pickup truck in the middle of the three open lanes in the Ville-Marie tunnel. Lights indicate that lane is closed. My car is in the leftmost lane, which suddenly also comes to a standstill, after police show up and an officer exits his vehicle and stops traffic. When it appears that the left lane will not start moving again, FSD moves my car two lanes over the right. 🤯 It then curves around a pothole in that lane, following how the car ahead handled it. 🤯 Honestly if it wasn’t for how bad Montreal roads are with potholes, I would hardly be driving myself at all.

In both of these clips, the car unnecessarily jumps into the left lane (Hurry mode) despite clear reasons not to: • Video 1: The lane is ending and blocked by construction barrels. • Video 2: The left lane is becoming a left-turn only. In both cases, it had to force its way back into the right lane with traffic all around. Definitely not ideal.

While this build performs far better than any previous FSD version in winter weather (thank you Tesla AI for all the hard work!), there's a notable issue when transitioning from clear pavement to partially snow-covered surfaces—particularly during automatic lane changes at speeds >40mph. Once the lane change begins, the car starts swerving side-to-side, and the longer it continues, the more pronounced the hunting behavior becomes as it searches for drivable space. Earlier this week, I encountered this a few times during a mild snowstorm. With a lifetime of winter driving experience here in Minnesota, I decided to observe how far it would go. I was surprised that the system didn't disengage on its own, as it eventually put the car into a full slide toward the barrier, requiring my intervention. If you notice this behavior, I strongly recommend disengaging early and completing the lane change manually before re-engaging the system.

As requested, here is the footage. FSD 14.1.4 was taking a right out of a parking lot. There was a mail truck in the closest lane and FSD attempted to take a really wide turn around the truck and go into the far lane, but there was a minivan clearly coming in that lane. I wasn't sure which lane it was trying to get in. When it started going in front of the minivan I took over. The minivan was paying attention and braked, honked their horn, and went around me as I pulled out of their lane. I found it weird because 14 is usually way too cautious at intersections.

V14.2.1 highway regression vs 14.1. In standard mode, FSD makes a maneuver into the left lane to pass a semi truck. Because they have jailed the speed limits of non mad max profiles, FSD cannot use acceleration to make this pass. So it ends up camping the left lane. In my right side view mirror, you can see someone coming up on my ass, and FSD is not getting back over. It’s also not speeding up to pass the semi because it is in speed jail. I had to scroll mad max to get through the maneuver. Def a regression from 14.1.

FSD keeps sending me into HOV lane even though I’m the only person in the car. Tesla please fix HOV auto detection because it doesn’t work. First clip shows FSD trying to cross double yellow into HOV lane this past Sunday. Second clip shows FSD going into HOV lane this morning during my commute. Both times took me by total surprise. 😱 This morning I thought I’d re-engage FSD and see if it would recognize the mistake driving in HOV lane and get me out of there, but it didn’t. I ended up having to disengage and cross double white to get my car out of HOV. I’m glad there wasn’t a cop there or else I would have gotten a ticket. Before proceeding, FSD notices the approaching pickup truck, yields until it is apparent that the truck is going to yield for us, at which point it proceeds through the bridge flawlessly. FSD V14.2 demonstrates awareness of one lane bridge, understands that approaching pickup is a potential obstruction, and waits until it is clear that we can proceed. You can completely forget about this happening on any version pre-14. V14 does an incredible job with context and predicting potential future events. And it does it all so quickly and with such certainty. The intelligence is getting nutty.

This woman is using a bike lane as a walking lane as well. There is a car behind her trying to beat the traffic and driving in that lane. They are driving slowly behind her yelling at her to get out of the way and antagonizing her. She starts to record them because they are being reckless and have come close to hitting her and other cars. The car even cuts off the other cars as the lane is being blocked by a pole. I understand she’s mad because the car was where they weren’t supposed to be, however the bike lane is a bi-directional bike lane, it isn’t a bike lane on one side and a walking lane on the other. So who is wrong here, are they both wrong for using the bike lane when neither one is on a bike?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS W/ FSD V14.1.4 After spending about 45 minutes with FSD v14.1.4 here are my initial impressions: The not so good - Swerving Behavior #1 (aka swerving for nonexistent objects in the road) is still present in 14.1.4 and occurred mid-corner while we were driving through the Lowry Tunnel - Swerving Behavior #2 (aka aggressively following lead vehicle path) is still present in 14.1.4 and occurred when a lead vehicle decided to suddenly turn off the road we were on. - Auto lane changes, especially on the highway are more hesitant. I had several incidents where the car initiated an auto lane change only to abort and then go back and forth as if it was confused, even though the lane was clear. The good - Speed profiles, especially the standard speed profile continues to be close to perfect, especially on city streets. My only gripe here is it needs slow down a few mph on the highway as it likes to go over 10mph over the limit. Staying under 9mph over the limit usually keeps the tickets at bay so hopefully that behavior can be modified in a future build. - Brake/throttle pumping behavior has not yet returned but I want to do more testing tomorrow to confirm it is actually fixed. - I can once again select the "Driveway" option when parking at home after it being missing for several days. Not only is this option still present in 14.1.4, I now can select the "Parking Lot" and "Charger" options when parking at home as well. - Autopark, as long as you select the right destination setting, seems to be performing better and is now selecting the right spots ~70% of the time now. - Start FSD from within my home garage works great regardless if I'm backing out or pulling forward. The car is smart enough to recognize the steepness of the driveway and when I pull it out it turns wide to avoid scraping the front fascia which I appreciate. I was hoping to see the swerving behavior fixed however if Tesla only managed to fix the brake/throttle pumping behavior in this build I would still consider it a success. More to come tomorrow!

PVNR Flyover in Hyderabad brings out some of the worst drivers. Its a 40-60 kmph speed limit. Solid white all over to discourage lane changes. The idea is to get on it and drive in your lane for the entire stretch at or below 60 kmph. NO Overtaking, No Speeding. But some drivers treat it as a racing track- they weave, and cut, and overtake in small gaps putting others at risk. We have to change our racing mindset to achieve safe roads. PS: Unlike highways, flyovers & bridges don't have 'Fast lane' or 'Overtaking lane', everyone must drive below speed limit and follow each other patiently. (I get this response very often so posted this 🫤) #RoadSafety
