That's a wrap! In the last 36 hours, I've taken a total of 20 Tesla Robotaxi rides and traveled 92 miles. No interventions, no critical safety issues. All my rides were smooth and comfortable. Thank you, Tesla, for letting me be a part of this experience—and congrats to the whole team on launching the first paid Robotaxi rides! This is the start of a new era. The Robotaxi app is great. My two bits of feedback: allow us to adjust the pickup spot, and enable dropping a pin within the geofenced area so we can more precisely choose where we want to go. As always, it’s been real, Austin. Until next time! 🤖🤠

During his interview with CNBC, Elon confirmed that there would be fully autonomous Teslas on the streets of Austin by the end of June. I predicted that Tesla would not have non-geofenced, unsupervised Full Self-Driving Teslas in Austin by July 1. Today is July 1, and Elon's predictions were completely wrong. By his own definition of intelligence, he is not that smart. I have always been better at predicting things about Tesla Full Self-Driving than Elon Musk is. That's why No Safe Words crowned me the "world's leading autonomous vehicle safety expert". As I predicted, Tesla's "Robotaxi" is geofenced to a small area in Austin. It is not autonomous, and is supervised both remotely and from the passenger seat. The only passengers it has carried so far are Tesla Cultists and shareholders. Tesla has not launched a real robotaxi service like the one Waymo operates. The 11 supervised robotaxis it has deployed made at least 17 safety critical and driving errors in just the first week of operation. Zoox (owned by Amazon) is now testing Robotaxi rides to and from the Las Vegas International Airport. For employees only initially, but will expand to the public in the relatively near future. I'm curious to see what airport rides are like in this vehicle, because when I rode in it last September, I didn't feel the cabin would be good for luggage. There isn't a dedicated storage area like Tesla and Waymo have, which is why I felt the vehicle would be best for passenger only rides, but I guess if the luggage is small it'll be fine.

In July, Waymo announced it was testing in Dallas with safety drivers. 4 months later, Waymo's Dallas fleet is now fully autonomous. Tesla is helplessly watching the robotaxi race from the sidelines.
