Elon Musk: Tesla has no need to buy Uber. “There's no need [to buy Uber] because we have millions of cars that will be able to operate autonomously. And I should say that it's a combination of a Tesla-owned fleet and also enabling Tesla owners to be able to add or subtract their car to the fleet so that existing Tesla owners will be able to earn money by adding their car to the fleet for autonomous use. I think it's maybe possible for Tesla owners to make more in allowing the car to be added to the self-driving fleet then they cost them in the lease. And that's why I'd consider it sort of a business model that's similar to some combination of Airbnb and Uber. When Tarun Mehta was building Ather, one company he studied closely was Tesla. He says he spent years reading about the company — from Elon Musk’s writings to Tesla’s early engineering philosophy. The biggest takeaway? If you want to build a real product company, you can’t outsource the core technology. NEWS: Bargersville’s fleet of 13 Tesla police cars saves taxpayers about $80,000 a year in fuel costs compared to gas-powered police vehicles. The town is saving enough on fuel to pay for two additional officers. "We just traded our first car in this year and we got $17,500 for a 2019 Tesla, compared to the $5k we get for our gas-powered police vehicles.”

And it's actually a combination. It's like Airbnb and Uber, to some degree. So, there'll be some cars that Tesla owns itself. It's kind of like an Uber fashion. But then, for the fleet, that is owned by our customers, it will be like an Airbnb thing. You can add or subtract your car to the fleet whenever you want. So you can say, I'm going away for a week. Just one tap on your Tesla app, your car gets added to the fleet, and it just makes money for you while you're gone. So you can add it to the fleet for a few hours, for a few days, for a few weeks. Whenever you want it back, you can say, come back. And the car will come right back. And I'm highly confident that the revenue made by the owner of the car will far exceed the actual monthly payment. And then, Tesla will obviously take a revenue share on that, but most of the money will go to the owner of the car. And this is actually going to work. This is what will happen. Tesla Cybertruck Powershare installation and test! I am so impressed with the Powershare system as witnessed by my genuine SHOCKED reaction of how quickly the power turned back on after flipping our main breaker. Huge thanks to the Tesla Energy team for beta access to the Powershare software! Let's hope Tesla can release a retrofit for other vehicles so all tesla owners can take advantage of this amazing technology.
