🇺🇸 Tesla nearly crashed in autonomous mode. The system failed to see a car with its turn signals on changing lanes.

The other car was at fault yes. But the Tesla should, to be safe, brake sharply or swerve like the driver. That’s the point of autonomous.

If there is nobody behind you, braking is often safer than swerving quickly. Obviously the Tesla knows its surroundings and should make a decision.

Was it?

Once the car started switching lane the Tesla should detect a possible collision and initiate an evasion maneuver. Likely some bug, since teslas generally do that.

Right … didn’t notice it as a violation at first.

Explain to me how a car forcefully merging into your lane is your fault again?

I wouldn’t blame the Tesla for that, the other car nearly slammed right into you
