Testing out a datamosh effect in Unreal. It's borderline unplayable when its this strong but it looks incredible (I've also been experimenting with horror/glitch music)

Some screenshots because i'm sure the bitrate of the video is going to be terrible lol. I've been using this shader for reference to give credit:

playing around with motion vectors is so fun. dlss also breaks in really neat ways at really low input resolutions

Use the depth buffer to only apply the effect on the closer parts of the scene. That way the farthest parts aren’t effected. Maybe the 50% point between the near plane and the far plane could be good a cutoff? Tag me if you try it!

I remember MOTHERED using this effect during the epilogue, and it genuinely freaked me out I had no idea you could do something like this in a game

Just don't clear the frame buffer and you get this effect for free?

that gets you a different effect, you gotta apply motion vectors for datamoshing

would love to see what happens when you combine this with some camera changes. By switching between first and third, teleporting, switching from first to your "security cameras" etc. cus data moshing is usually the most interesting in videos with actual edits/clear scene changes
