Most of us treat our darkest inner states like enemies to be defeated. The shame, the compulsions, the voice that says you're not enough. We want to cut them out. Gabor Maté sees it differently. "The parts most filled with hatred, the parts that are addicted, the parts that are even full of self-loathing, they all deserve compassion. They all deserve to be held and understood. And they all came along for a reason." That reason, he explains, is survival. When a child isn't getting their needs met or worse, is being hurt, they face an impossible situation. They can make one of only two unconscious assumptions about their world. The first: this is a terrible world, I'm all alone, everybody is against me. The second: there is something wrong with me, and if I work hard enough, maybe I can fix it. Which one can a child actually live with? "To assume that the world is that dangerous is just unbearable for the child. It's also turning the anger towards the adults against yourself which is a lot safer. It's not very safe to be angry with your parents all the time when you're 2 years old." So the child chooses self-blame. It's the only assumption that gives them any sense of agency. If it's my fault, then maybe I can do something about it. That self-loathing voice was a coping mechanism. A piece of the psyche that stepped forward to make life bearable. The work, then, isn't to silence or destroy these parts. It's to finally see what they were trying to do and to offer them the understanding they never received.

Day 6: What a glorious morning in the USA. We've only been in this beautiful country for 6 days and we absolutely love it. It's been a long time since I've seen my wife this happy and hopeful. The overwhelming kindness and real concern and care our community extends towards us pushes us upwards and pushes us forward. Today started slow after our meeting with our resettlement agency was rescheduled 1hr later. As updated previously someone from Spangler Restoration did come assess the mold and we're expecting a full clean by tomorrow. Will follow up, but will keep the mold updates separate from now on because it will not get us down or beat us down nor distract us from all the wonderful aspects of our journey. That said we'll give them hell should they stutter or falter. We will also conduct our own testing with a 5 minute mold test and sample kit that will get sent to a lab proudly gifted to us by American patriots who bought it for us in our Amazon wish list. We met with the resettlement agency and they went over information and asked us how we are doing and how the last 5 days have been. They are too keeping an eye on the mold issue and are also waiting for the next update from management. They explained our documentation and informed us again that we entered approved to work immediately. We have work authorization from day 1. However, some employers are too cautious employing illegals and as such people with our documentation face challenges getting employed before and EAD card and SSN card has been issued. We'll have to see them tomorrow again. This if for signing of consent forms apply as proxy for SSN etc. I informed the agency that I've applied with Rides for Refugees who could potentially hook us up with a donated vehicle which would make the world of difference to be able to travel with my son to appointments. There is still a big journey lying ahead for us. More medical assessments and SSA visits etc. My body is aching from the physical labor after doing the fibre trenches yesterday. I can hardly walk. 😂 I overdid It while shadowing with the ride along yesterday. Apparently it takes about 2 weeks to get work fit. If they contract me I will take the offer immediately and I'll start with training after two weeks of digging fibre trenches. I'm coming from journalism and web hosting office jobs into the sun and I'm totally game for it. Anything to start earning dollars and it's an industry I want to get into. So it's win win and I can't be more grateful for this opportunity. Back in South Africa I would've never have had this opportunity. I can't wait to find out if and when I start. One of you kind people gifted me work boots and cargo pants from ma Amazon wish list. So I'm ready on day one. And another wonderful person on X I'm forever grateful for, gifted me peace of mind, for when I have to go off to work leaving my wife and baby behind, we now have a ring doorbell camera installed this evening letting both of us know of any trouble or visitors while healing our angst and worry, PTSD, we undoubtedly brought with us from South Africa. We have also received the gifted Air purifier this afternoon and it's already doing wonders in our single bedroom where Nova sleeps with us, where it will help ease the odors, it's affects, albeit temporarily, and will help us have a proper rest during the night for the first time until the specialists clean the HVAC. I will be posting pictures and thanking individuals who opened their hearts. I will never forget what your doing for us, for my family, for my son. I have sacrificed my son's past, his Afrikaner culture and to a degree his Afrikaans language for a future in which he can reach his full potential, he will grow up American and we all including my family will fight to protect American values and the future of this great nation, & I am and will always be a proud Amerikaner dad. You Can’t Make People Cheer For Your Wars After Committing A Live-Streamed Genocide I saw a clip of Fox News war propagandist Sean Hannity solemnly reading a tweet by Atlantic Council fellow Jamie Metzl which said, “It is profoundly disturbing that a growing segment of the far left appears to be almost rooting for Hamas, Hezbollah, the Iranian regime, and other forces fundamentally opposed to the US and our allies. The biggest misconception about carnivore is that it's expensive. It's not. That's a myth. Yes, if you're eating ribeyes twice a day, you're going to spend a lot of money. But carnivore is not ribeyes twice a day for most of us. That's not reality and it's not what I teach. Here's my reality in Houston right now: When chuck roast goes on sale I buy as much as I can. It regularly comes out to about $2 a serving. Ground beef is my main staple and I pay around $5 a pound, which gives me two meals. Eggs and butter round out almost everything I eat. Most days I spend around $6 total. Sometimes less. The meal in this video is a crustless quiche and Market Side hot dogs. Total cost: about $4. Carnivore does not have to mean steak twice a day. It means working with real animal food at whatever price point you can find it that week. Chuck roast. Ground beef. Eggs. Butter. Hot dogs when that's what fits the budget. That is the whole point of what I do. Carnivore is not exclusive to people with money. It is not exclusive to people with farms nearby or neighbors with chickens or access to fancy butchers. The majority of us don't have any of that. I don't either. Anyone can do this. That is my message and I mean it every single time I say it.👑

No ritual will widen a road, install a crash barrier or make an overloaded vehicle safe. Those things require planning, investment, enforcement and competent leadership. JAMES EARL CARTER, the 39th US President who was born on 1 October 1924 and made history as the first centenarian former US President when he celebrated his 100th birthday on 1 October 2024, died yesterday. A story that is well documented in academic literature but which remains largely untold in the popular media is how Carter was instrumental in the Lancaster Constitutional Talks that paved the way for Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980; and how he was a friend of Zimbabwe, something rather odd to say about a white former US President. But Jimmy Carter was one of a kind. His influence behind the Lancaster Constitutional Talks for Zimbabwe’s Independence was much more pronounced and even more significant than that of Margaret Thatcher. It is in this context that Carter sent a top level team of negotiators from his administration led by his UN Ambassador Andrew Young and Secretary of State Cyrus Vance, to work with Thatcher’s conservative government to push for a settlement of the Rhodesian opprobrium at the Lancaster House talks. Carter understood not only the racist catastrophe in Ian Smith’s Rhodesia but also the brutal racism in apartheid South Africa, which he later addressed more forcefully after he left office, as he began to connect the evils of apartheid South Africa with the evils of apartheid Israel. Carter’s administration started working on Zimbabwe soon after he assumed office in January 1977, when he made the facilitation for an independent Zimbabwe a high priority of his foreign policy. In 2000, Carter – whom international relations experts and historians credit for the Camp David Accords, remarked that, "what most people don't realize is, I spent more time on Zimbabwe than I did the Middle East." In a widely quoted media briefing, Carter explained that the basis of the motivation behind his approach to African affairs were his received and lived encounters with the persecution that blacks suffered in the US, saying: “I felt a sense of responsibility and some degree of guilt that we had spent an entire century after the Civil War still persecuting blacks, and to me the situation in Africa was inseparable from the fact of deprivation or persecution or oppression of Black people in the South.” In 2007 journalist Amy Goodman, had an enduring interview with Jimmy Carter in which he unambiguously described Israel as an apartheid state, and gave an explanation which rings particularly true today on why public policy and public opinion in the US are hostage to the racist and now genocidal whims and caprices of the Israeli government. They’re not completely separated. The Palestinians can’t even ride on the same roads that Israelis have created or built in Palestinian territory. And the other thing is the other definition of apartheid is one side completely dominates the other, and the Israelis completely dominate the life of the Palestinian people. I think its accurate to say that not a single member of Congress with whom I’m familiar would possibly speak out and call for Israel to withdraw to their legal boundaries or to publicize the plight of the Palestinians or even to call publicly and repeatedly for good faith peace talks. There hadn’t been a day of peace talks now in more than seven years. So, this is a taboo subject, and I would say that if any member of Congress did speak out as I have described, they would probably not be back in the Congress the next term. The speech that I could not deliver because German police burst into our Berlin venue to disband our Palestine Congress (1930s style). Judge for yourselves the kind of society Germany is becoming when its police bans the following words: Friends, Congratulations, and heartfelt thanks, for being here, despite the threats, despite the ironclad police outside this venue, despite the panoply of the German press, despite the German state, despite the German political system that demonises you for being here. “Why a Palestinian Congress, Mr Varoufakis?”, a German journalist asked me recently? Because, as Hanan Asrawi once said: “We cannot rely on the silenced to tell us about their suffering.” Today, Asrawi’s reason has grown depressingly stronger: Because we cannot rely on the silenced who are also massacred and starved to tell us about the massacres and the starvation. But there is another reason too: Because a proud, a decent people, the people of Germany, are led down a perilous road to a heartless society by being made to associate themselves with another genocide carried out in their name, with their complicity. I am neither Jewish nor Palestinian. But I am incredibly proud to be here amongst Jews and Palestinians – to blend my voice for Peace and Universal Human Rights with Jewish Voices for Peace and Universal Human Rights – with Palestinian Voices for Peace and Universal Human Rights. Being together, here, today, is proof that Coexistence is Not Only Possible – but that it is here! Already. “Why not a Jewish Congress, Mr Varoufakis?”, the same German journalist asked me, imagining that he was being smart. I welcomed his question. For if a single Jew is threatened, anywhere, just because she or he is Jewish, I shall wear the star of David on my lapel and offer my solidarity - whatever the cost, whatever it takes. So, let’s be clear: If Jews were under attack, anywhere in the world, I would be the first to canvass for a Jewish Congress in which to register our solidarity. Similarly, when Palestinians are massacred because they are Palestinians – under a dogma that to be dead they must have been Hamas – I shall wear my keffiyeh and offer my solidarity whatever the cost, whatever it takes. Universal Human Rights are either universal or they mean nothing. With this in mind, I answered the German journalist’s question with a few of my own: · Are 2 million Israeli Jews, who were thrown out of their homes and into an open air prison 80 years ago, still being kept in that open air prison, without access to the outside world, with minimal food and water, no chance of a normal life, of travelling anywhere, and bombed periodically for 80 years? No. · Are Israeli Jews being starved intentionally by an army of occupation, their children writhing on the floor, screaming from hunger? No. · Are there thousands of Jewish injured children no surviving parents crawling through the rubble of what used to be their homes? No. · Are Israeli Jews being bombed by the world’s most sophisticated planes and bombs today? No. · Are Israeli Jews experiencing complete ecocide of what little land they can still call their own, not one tree left under which to seek shade or whose fruit to taste? No. · Are Israeli Jewish children killed by snipers today at the orders of a member-state of the UN? No. · Are Israeli Jews driven out of their homes by armed gangs today? No. · Is Israel fighting for its existence today? No. If the answer to any of these questions was yes, I would be participating in a Jewish Solidarity Congress today. Friends, Today, we would have loved to have a decent, democratic, mutually-respectful debate on how to bring Peace and Universal Human Rights for everyone, Jews and Palestinians, Bedouins and Christians, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea with people who think differently to us. Sadly, the whole of the German political system has decided not to allow this. In a joint statement including not just the CDU-CSU or the FDP but also the SPD, the Greens and, remarkably, two leaders of Die Linke, joined forces to ensure that such a civilised debate, in which we may disagree agreeably, never takes place in Germany. I say to them: You want to silence us. To ban us. To demonise us. To accuse us. You, therefore, leave us with no choice but to meet your accusations with our accusations. You chose this. Put differently, I condemn every attack on civilians while, at the same time, I celebrate anyone who risks their life to TEAR DOWN THE WALL. Is Israel not engaged in a war for its very existence? No, it is not. Israel is a nuclear-armed state with perhaps the most technologically advanced army in the world and the panoply of the US military machine having its back. There is no symmetry with Hamas, a group which can cause serious damage to Israelis but which has no capacity whatsoever to defeat Israel’s military, or even to prevent Israel from continuing to implement the slow genocide of Palestinians under the system of Apartheid that has been erected with long-standing US and EU support. Are Israelis not justified to fear that Hamas wants to exterminate them? Of course they are! Jews have suffered a Holocaust that was preceded with pogroms and a deep-seated antisemitism permeating Europe and the Americas for centuries. It is only natural that Israelis live in fear of a new pogrom if the Israeli army folds. However, by imposing Apartheid on their neighbours, by treating them like sub-humans, the Israeli state is stoking the fires of antisemitism, is strengthening Palestinians and Israelis who just want to annihilate each other and, in the end, contributes to the awful insecurity consuming Jews in Israel and the Diaspora. Apartheid against the Palestinians is the Israelis’ worst self-defence. What about antisemitism? It is always a clear and present danger. And it must be eradicated, especially amongst the ranks of the Global Left and the Palestinians fighting for Palestinian civil liberties –around the world. Why don’t Palestinians pursue their objectives by peaceful means? They did. The PLO recognised Israel and renounced armed struggle. And what did they get for it? Absolute humiliation and systematic ethnic cleansing. That is what nurtured Hamas and elevated it the eyes of many Palestinians as the only alternative to a slow genocide under Israel’s Apartheid. What should be done now? What might bring Peace to Israel-Palestine? · An immediate ceasefire. · The release of all hostages: Hamas’ and the thousands held by Israel. · A Peace Process, under the UN, supported by a commitment by the International Community to end Apartheid and to safeguard Equal Civil Liberties for All. · As for what must replace Apartheid, it is up to Israelis and Palestinians to decide between the 2-state solution and the solution of a Single Federal Secular State. Friends, We are here because vengeance is a lazy form of grief. We are here to promote not vengeance but Peace and Coexistence across Israel-Palestine. We are here to tell German democrats, including our former comrades of Die Linke, that they have covered themselves in shame long enough – that two wrongs do not one right make – that allowing Israel to get away with war crimes is not going to ameliorate the legacy of Germany’s crimes against the Jewish People. Beyond today’s Congress, we have a duty, in Germany, to change the conversation. We have a duty to persuade the vast majority of decent Germans out there that universal human rights is what matters. Hearing the word cancer is scary. It’s a word designed to instantly make you freeze. But I refuse to let fear take over. It is a terrible thing to face, but it will not break or beat me. I apologise for the length of this post and the video itself… you all know I love an essay and am a talker! But I wanted to give you an honest understanding of what this is, and how I plan to fight it. Oddly, I look at it this way: my body created these cells. They are mine to stall, and mine to kill. I will. And I will wear a permanent battle scar for all to see… literally! I never thought this was something I would have to face. As someone who has campaigned against Big Pharma, the agenda, and the “treatments” that only make us sicker, I refuse to be a permanent patient. I refuse to fund the parasites who want us sick, dependent, scared, and vulnerable to coercion, propaganda, and evil. The ‘good’ news is; it is very slow growing, it has low chance of metastasis at the moment and it is not ‘seeding,’ so I will take the time I have to do everything in my power to stop it in its tracks. While that slow pace is highly reassuring for someone opting for radiation when the oncologist says, “Okay, we need to fry it now” after a year or two of tracking growth... that is simply not a path I am willing to take. Hearing the word cancer is scary. It’s a word designed to instantly make you freeze. But I refuse to let fear take over. It is a terrible thing to face, but it will not break or beat me. I apologise for the length of this post and the video itself… you all know I love an essay and am a talker! But I wanted to give you an honest understanding of what this is, and how I plan to fight it. Oddly, I look at it this way: my body created these cells. They are mine to stall, and mine to kill.
