No one should care about youth sports this much. That’s the problem here

Back story…I am the umpire in this video from 5 or 6 years ago. This was game 2 of a DH with these teams. Top 2 teams in this division for league play. Game 1 this coach constantly argued calls my 16 year old partner had when he was behind the plate. 1/2…

My #1 Rule for amateur umps as a coach. I will never argue balls or strikes, or safe or out. But you better know the rule book.

This is absurd. This coach should not be coaching.

As a little league coach, there’s nothing soft about this reaction from the umpire. It’s up to the adults to set a good example of sportsmanship for the kids, and if you have an issue with calls, you just gotta talk to the umpire 1 on 1, not yelling across the Diamond.

If given the full story you would probably kick dirt on that ump as well. That's who they are.

Coaches like this are ruining the game especially at a very young age. These kids are no older than 5th grade.

Coaches and parents are not behind the plate. While umping had a C position himself outside the outside corner. Pitcher hit the glove everytime. Everytime was called a ball. Coach thought it was a K. Between innings I explained where the C was set up!

There's not a single adult correct in this situation. The coach for ever obvious reason. The parents for clapping and cheering egging it all on. The ump for comfronting the coach, then ending the game prematurely for the kids because he was mad about a little dirt kick

I used to be on a youth baseball organization board - if someone brought this video in the Coach wouldn’t be allowed to Coach - probably ever . The Umpire handled it perfectly IMO . And it looks like the base umpire is a young kid . Coaches should know better .

Trash parent. My kid would be taken off the team that evening. If this coach acts this way in public, in front of other children and their parents, just imagine how he acts behind closed doors.

Just a good rule of thumb. If you’re at any level below HS Varsity, don’t argue balls/strikes, fouls/flags or any minor game point. Anything before HS Varsity isn’t wins/losses. It doesn’t matter.

Number 1 reason why I quit umpiring because you have coaches just like this. Kids see this and think it’s okay. They build a personality in the game where it’s “okay” to argue calls because they see the coaches doing it. Umpire handled this situation well. Good for him.

I tossed a coach in 12 yr tournament. He acted like a ass. Many years later he became a friend we laugh about it all the time.
