That Esther Phillips loop on ‘Give Up the Goods’ is still cold. Q-Tip took the opening of ‘That’s All Right With Me’ (1971) & let it ride. Mobb Deep & Big Noyd did the rest 🔥

Easy Mo Bee used the sample first, waaay before Q-Tip did, on the remix for L.L. Cool J’s song “Pink Cookies In A Plastic Bag”!

The album cut of "Represent" wins every time. Still, this original demo is a crazy piece of history - Preemo switchin’ the beat to ride with that heat Large Pro, Q-Tip, & Pete Rock were bringing to Illmatic!🔥 Thoughts on the original?

Kool G Rap on “The Realest” was straight COLD BLOODED. G Rap hopped on that Alchemist loop & massacred the joint - the beat didn’t stand a chance 🪦 25+ years later & it still hits hard!! 🔥

O.C.’s ‘Time’s Up’ is a lyrical takedown of wack MCs - that opening bar “You lack the minerals & vitamins” sets it off! A master class in lyricism & a middle finger to the industry’s fakes. Still relevant today - O.C went in!!🔥🔥

True Master came correct with that flip on Ghostface’s “Fish” 🐟🔥 Chopped up multiple elements of “A Change Is Gonna Come” & let Ghostface, Raekwon & Cappadonna go crazy over it. Otis soul baptized in the Wu chamber 👐

RZA’s beat on this Tical banger is straight up haunting & underrated imo - sets the stage for a lyrical bloodbath. INS & RZA rip on this track & Carlton Fisk seals it with a cold, murderous verse. Wu Wednesday in full effect 👐

“Homicide’s illegal & death is the penalty - What justifies the homicide when he dies in his own iniquity?” Masta Killa bodied the close - first verse he ever wrote or spit on wax, came in cold & shut it down like a boss!! 🔥🔥 Wu Wednesday 👐

‘Swordsman’ 👐 RZA made a beat that sounds like it crawled out a nightmare & GZA walked right through it. That second verse is COLD.

One of my favorite Mobb Deep loosies used Prince’s If I Was Your Girlfriend beat. Didn’t chop it. Didn’t slow it down or speed it up. Just let it ride and hopped in the booth. That beat is perfection.

This is 100% true & like all of the other 9/11 inconsistencies and lies, it gets swept under the rug & memory holed. The BBC reported on the building going down before it actually did; so what does that tell you? This is right up there with the passports found in the rubble
