Wiz Khalifa says he rewrote his second verse for “See You Again” after Paul Walker's death, just one week before Furious 7 was released “It was right when he passed. He was filming for the movie, and they were like, ‘Something happened. We need to do a whole little redirection, and you're going to be a part of that” “So they're like, ‘This is the last scene of the movie. He's in the movie, but we're generating his face on a couple scenes. And this is going to be one of them where it's going to be him riding off into the sunset, but it's going to represent his departure’” “But by the time the movie had come out, it was like a week before the movie came out, they were like, ‘We need to finish the song, and we're going to shoot the video, and we just want you and Charlie Puth on there. Everybody else we don't want, so you need to write another verse.’ So I quickly came in there. I watched the scene, because I already did the first verse just based off what they told me it was going to be like. Then for the second verse, they were like watch the scene and write it based off that” “I watched the scene, wrote my verse real quick, recorded it, we shot the video the next week, and then it comes out with the movie. It's just supposed to be a soundtrack song, but as soon as it got on the radio, it went number one and stayed there for like 12 or 13 weeks. I never knew it was going to do all of that at all” “It's unfortunate that Paul Walker lost his life, and his legacy is always going to live on. I met his family and they loved it. But I think ‘See You Again’ connects because you can tell everybody goes through those losses, and you can feel that in those verses. I've taken losses, and I've personally felt what that feels like. So to be able to channel that through the music, tell his story, help his legacy live on, and also connect with other people who go through similar things, that was my main goal. That's what I knew I could do through my personal experiences, and I'm glad that the world”

⭐️: I honestly spent so much time thinking about it. At first, I kept wondering if it was the right choice. Every time I looked in the mirror, it felt unfamiliar and a little awkward. And I think there are certain shades of blonde that suit me, and others that just don’t feel like me. But I really, really thought about it a lot. On top of that, there were times when I was out and about and had to deal with some not-so-great reactions because of it, so I had a lot of worries. I kept going back and forth in my head. When I wore that outfit for the music show performance, I actually couldn’t sleep at all the night before. I had so many thoughts and worries that I was basically fighting with myself. My mood was really bad that day. But even though my body felt like it weighed a ton, I dragged myself to the music show and did it. And while I was there, I was still battling with myself, thinking, “Is this really right? Am I just too stuck in my own perspective to see it clearly? Maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t get it.” But at the same time, I kept telling myself, “We already filmed the music video like this. This is something I have to commit to.” So I went on stage. I was honestly feeling really down that day. I had almost no confidence in myself. But later on, seeing that so many people understood it and liked it made me realise that maybe it wasn’t completely the wrong choice after all. That said, my favourite hairstyle on myself is still black hair. So today, I got my hair and makeup done, looked in the mirror, and thought, “I need to go live.” So here I am.

Steve Jobs really pulled a reality distortion field to poach Tim Cook from Compaq (in 1998, it was worth $30B+ to Apple’s $3B). All of Cook’s friends and advisors told him not to join almost-bankrupt Apple. Cook says it took Jobs one meeting to convince him: “I had gotten a call several times from the search people that [Jobs] had employed, and I kept saying no. I was happy at Compaq — or thought I was — and they were persistent. So, I finally thought, ‘you know, I’m going to go out and take the meeting. Steve created the whole industry that I’m in. I’d love the meeting.’ […] All of a sudden, he’s talking about his strategy and his vision and what he was doing. He was going 100% into consumer when everybody else in the industry had decided you couldn’t make any money in consumer. They were headed to servers and storage and the enterprise. […] I always thought following the herd was a bad idea. He showed me a bit of the design to get me interested [of what later would be called the iMac]. The way that he talked and the chemistry. I could tell I could work with him. I looked at the problems Apple had and I thought ‘you know, I can make a contribution here’ and working with [Jobs would be] the privilege of a lifetime. All of a sudden I thought, ‘I’m doing it. I’m going for it.’ You hear this voice in your ear that says, ‘Go west, young man, go west.’ [The move to Apple] didn’t make sense. And yet my gut said ‘go for it’ and I listened to my gut. There was literally no one around me that was advising me to do it.” In March 1998, Cook joined Apple as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations on a $400k base salary (and a $500k signing bonus). He was 37. Incredible gut call. *** Full episode here from 2014:

"The result is I'm a 23-year old gay man who's never had an orgasm and may never experience one. Let that sink in." Jonni Skinner tells the California legislature's judiciary committee how he was puberty blocked, dosed with estrogen and rendered anorgasmic as a minor by gender clinicians that never inquired into the source of his gender confusion as a child and instead put him on a pipeline to a lifetime of medicalization. Full text of his comments below: "When I was young, I was a feminine child, and I discovered trans influencers online. They said: 'Change your body and your life gets better. Don't and it gets worse.' Or, as my doctors told my mom, I would commit suicide. The medical and mental health providers didn't bother to ask why I felt the way I did. They poisoned my body with blockers and hormones, arresting my puberty and messing with my development. The result is I'm a 23 year old gay man who's never had an orgasm and may never experience one. Let that sink in. I was rendered anorgasmic because once you say you could be trans, that's a full stop -- no exploration as to why is allowed, even if you are struggling. The former president of WPATH, Dr Marcy Bowers, the California surgeon who had performed the surgery for Jazz Jennings at 17, admitted on video that puberty blockers, followed by cross sex hormones, results in no orgasms and stunted genitals. SB, 934 guarantees that more people will end up like me, the walking but wounded. I could have been spared all of this, if any of my therapists would have explored why I felt dysphoric. But they never did. They only led me to hate my body more. The Supreme Court just ruled in a rare bipartisan decision that laws like this are unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination. This bill is an attempted workaround that will be used to silence therapists who could have helped me avoid the irreversible harms to my body and the loss of my sexual function as is the same for many others. So today, I ask you to extend some empathy to survivors like me and vote no for this bill."
