The Chinese government is systematically depriving human rights defenders of their rights to health and life, using medical care as a tool of repression and retaliation. Chinese police have even openly threatened human rights defenders, claiming that complaints to the UN and other international institutions are “useless.” In the face of this situation, what action will WHO take to protect the right to health and the right to life of human rights defenders facing persecution?
