It doesn't, at least for me (either due to missing code - I just activated that menu on OS3, app is from OS4, or no support from display side - it's clearly hardware level, you can check it on Learn more on video).

@H_bangg_ Yeah, gaze detection (in code as "anti peeping v1", privacy display is v2) is based on AON sensor (used for air gestures for example) but, as far as I checked, Xiaomi disabled it for Global builds, so officially it's available only in China ROM.

Even with Privacy Mode turned off, the Xiaomi 18 Pro still has noticeably narrower viewing angles than the Galaxy S26 Ultra. You can see it clearly in the video. That’s a bit unfortunate. Xiaomi has made the difference between Privacy Mode on and off relatively small. Even with it turned off, the display still retains some privacy-screen characteristics, so brightness and visibility drop noticeably when viewed from an angle. In other words, the normal mode still feels like it has a mild privacy filter applied. The upside is that the transition between the two modes is less dramatic. The trade-off is that even when you don’t need privacy protection at all, you still lose some viewing angle.

The Xiaomi SU7 just keeps crashing in China - Part 3 This is getting out of hand. Every day, we see new videos on Chinese social media of crashing Xiaomi SU7 sedans. We only post 25% or so, there is much more. Since our last Xiaomi crash-post on April 6, at least 10 new crashes have happened. Whenever a new model is launched, photos of crashes of that car start to appear on Chinese social media, just because people pay attention. Normally, after a few months, the attentions is over and the model really crashes as much as any other car. But in case of the Xiaomi SU7, something more seems to be going on. The latest videos show SU7 sedans in a ditch and against barriers. The 2nd video is interesting. It shows an SU7 on a parking lot, crashing into a Chery QQ that was parked there. Perhaps the auto-park function didn't notice the small QQ and went for it? There have been reports in Chinese media that insurance companies are refusing to insure the SU7. Xiaomi and the insurers have stated that these reports are false. We will try to find out more about insurance prices for the SU7. The RWD SU7 Pro has 220 kW, the AWD Max has 673 kW and the AWD Ultra has 1138 kW. When the SU7 launched, there was a problem with the brakes. This has since been fixed, according to Xiaomi. Also, the launch of the Ultra has led to some debate in China, about whether it is wise to sell a 1138 kW (1548 hp) car to anyone who can afford it. The Galaxy S26 Ultra display looks like absolute garbage next to the iQOO 16. Honestly, it looks like shit. The S26 Ultra uses M14 OLED, while the iQOO 16 has moved on to the newer M16 OLED, so the latter already has an advantage at the panel level. But the real disaster is Samsung’s privacy display design. Look at this comparison. The moment you tilt the S26 Ultra, the woman’s skin tone starts turning yellow and green. At wider angles, she almost looks like a ghost. Meanwhile, the iQOO 16 keeps her skin tone remarkably accurate, with excellent clarity and color consistency even from extreme angles. And please pay attention to this: I did NOT enable Privacy Display. This is the S26 Ultra in its normal display mode. The privacy feature is completely off, yet the viewing angles are already this bad. That means even if you never use Privacy Display at all, you still have to live with the side effects of this optical structure every single day. Tilt the phone a little and colors shift. Skin tones collapse. A flagship display that cannot even maintain basic color consistency at normal viewing angles is simply unacceptable. The first thing I checked after getting the iQOO 16 was its viewing angle performance, because this issue matters a lot to me. And honestly, I was so happy. This finally feels like a proper flagship OLED again. Then I looked back at my S26 Ultra and almost wanted to cry. Samsung has some of the best OLED technology in the world, and M14 OLED itself is perfectly capable of looking excellent. Yet Samsung sacrificed viewing angles, transparency, and color consistency for a privacy feature that most people will only use occasionally. Ruining hours of daily viewing quality for a feature you may need for a few minutes is absurd. I really hope other smartphone brands do not blindly copy this trend. Privacy protection can be achieved with software, accessories, or other solutions. Do not destroy the fundamentals of a great display for it. And this is exactly why I am already worried about the S27 Ultra. Even if Samsung upgrades it to M16 OLED, if it keeps the same privacy display structure, I do not expect it to match the clean, transparent, and consistent color performance of the iQOO 16. A great display should first get the basics right: accurate color, clarity, and viewing angles. If a normal human face turns yellow green the moment you tilt the phone, no advanced OLED material can save it.
