"That's What Friends Do" WRITTEN BY: Peter Strauss Another example of SpongeBob songs very contemporary compared to traditional showtune or theater inspired songs of other toons. This one particularly reminds me of REO Speedwagon

In this thread, you will find every song across the entire SpongeBob series (no movies or album exclusives) Songs that haven't been released by Nickelodeon will be denoted by the ** symbols Starting with...🧵

"Ripped Pants" WRITTEN BY: Peter Straus and Paul Tibbitt Sung by Peter Straus rather than Tom Kenny, this first song sets the stage pretty well for future songs in premovie, leaning a lot more towards traditional contemporary music

"F.U.N. Song" WRITTEN BY: Sherm Cohen and Brad Carow I think it is a great testament to Hillenburg's vision that this early on, SpongeBob's dynamic with every character was already so well established, and communicated thru a very catchy song!

"Doin' The Sponge" WRITTEN BY: Peter Straus This is the first of many in universe songs that don't play in full in the series because they are diegetic. Lucky for us though, this is from an early episode, and therefore has actually been released! I really love the guitar!

"I Wanna Go Home" WRITTEN BY: Sherm Cohen and Vincent Waller Performed by Junior Brown, the first of many musical guests the show would have in premovie! I don't think there has been a musical guest since season 4, but back then it was a staple of the series!

"Loop De Loop" WRITTEN BY: Ween Another musical guest, Stephen Hillenburg was a big fan of Ween, and their album 'The Mollusk' served as inspiration to him when running the show! Paul Tibbitt, showrunner of Post Movie, is a big fan of them as well.

"Bossy Boots Song" WRITTEN BY: The Capsules The Capsules are another musical guest, so obscure that I have no idea about how they got on the show. This is another diegetic song that plays in The Kuddly Krab that was thankfully released back in the day!

"The Very First Christmas" WRITTEN BY: Peter Strauss and Paul Tibbitt This song has a hint of being more of an 'ensemble' song with the melody going to various characters. This will become especially prominent later on as the songs get less contemporary sounding

"This Grill is Not a Home" WRITTEN BY: Eban Schletter and Paul Tibbitt The first song written by longtime series composer Eban Schletter! The mixing on the version found on the album (the one you're hearing) is a little wonky, the instrumental really drowns out the vocals

This has always given me crazy REO speedwagon vibes too!

Yeah, definitely had that REO Speedwagon vibe

@NyxQuentiam

Gosh. I had this episode on VHS. Used to watch it all the time. Loved the live action butterfly

The Spanish version is a banger too AAA
