The US govt debt just reached a new all-time high of $39.5 trillion. It will reach $40 trillion within 3 or 4 months. 42% of all income tax revenue now goes to paying interest on the national debt. The debt will never be reduced. When bonds come due, the govt refinances at the current higher rates. This increases interest payments the govt pays. in the next 12 months, about $9 trillion in US govt debt will come due. The US treasury will need to refinance $9 trillion, plus they need to sell over $2 trillion in additional bonds (new debt) to cover the govt budget deficit. The key issue you have to consider is how this will affect you and your family. The US govt debt is swallowing the budget. The interest payments will likely consume more than 50% of all income tax revenue in a few years. At some point this financial Ponzi causes bond buyers to demand higher rates for the risk of owning US govt debt. The US govt will always pay it's debt, but if the Fed has to print money (digitally) to monetize the debt, then the US dollar declines in value. That affects your buying power and quality of life dramatically. Everything gets more expensive, but your income doesn't keep up with the process.

You rack the weight, rest a full few minutes, do it again. Forty minutes later you are walking out breathing normally, barely damp, entirely intact. And the brain panics. That was too easy. Surely something this comfortable cannot be working. This is the exact feeling that keeps people trapped in junk volume for years. It is rarely bad information that holds them there. It is the discomfort of a productive session that stubbornly refuses to feel productive. So they add sets to buy back the suffering, because the suffering felt like proof. The weights are the proof. They went up again this week, quietly, while you were busy missing the pain. The muscle does not grow from how hard the session felt. It has never once asked how you felt about it.

As I sit here in DC this week, we are closer to something I was not sure I would ever see. I have been working in this industry since 2015. For most of those years, the defining feature of crypto in Washington was not policy. It was the absence of it. This week the CLARITY Act sits on the Senate calendar. A federal framework for digital asset market structure, the thing this industry has wanted for the better part of a decade, is closer than it has ever been. It is not law yet, and there are real hurdles left. But the distance between where we stood a few years ago and where we are sitting today is hard to put into words. I keep thinking about the work that got us here. Over the past year I watched Chainlink move from outside these conversations to inside them. Sergey at the White House for the signing of the GENIUS Act. The Department of Commerce putting government economic data onchain. Meetings with the SEC that became real interpretive guidance. Conversations with the lawmakers now writing the rules. None of that happens by accident. It happens because people keep showing up, year after year, and make the case in rooms where it is not yet obvious. And there is something fitting in it. The entire premise of what we build is verification. Making truth provable. Removing the question of what is real. The work here in DC is the same thing in a different form. Trading a decade of ambiguity for something the industry has never actually had. We are not at the finish line. But sitting here, it is hard not to feel the weight of it. The gray zone is ending. I was in Albania recently and this video perfectly describes how Nigerian-like/African-like Albanians are. - My booked taxi took me to a car wash and washed me with the car. 😭 - Traffic lights are mere suggestions. Most of them don’t care! - The food is so Nigerian-like and great which is unlike European food. - the average Albanian thinks politicians are their one and only problem. - I stayed in a high-end beachfront hotel and all the tactics employed by beggars in Lagos, I saw it in Albanian. Someone even came to beg for money carrying a baby. - There are no Bus-stops. Them dey pick passengers for road anyhow. They even have conductors calling for passengers and giving you change. - they are so nice, warm, accommodating and very chatty unlike the average conservative European. They are always open to having a conversation with you. A trait you find in Nigerians. There’s more but make I stop here. They are the most Nigerian-like Europeans out there and I have met a handful of Europeans.
