Take me back

It was a great time! Such simpler life back then. Minus the long distance phone calls to an area code over. 😁

“Object oriented” PHP

class foo function foo()

It's funny. Here we are in 2026 and i earn alot building with PHP 😘

Exactly!!🤑

Still works just fine, Laravel is just prettier!

Stop it!! 😢

Hey a hole… I’m not going to let you get away with hacking my computer. Ps great song choice and thx for the nostalgia

🤣

The good old days

The best days! 😅

Laravel brought order into the force

Nooo! The last one 😂

md5 was revolutionary. 😅

It was beautiful

A great time to be alive.

You would be surprised at what I built back then.

@entrepeneur4lyf 🎉🎉 What if you did a weekend hackertha project just trying the same style? Would it be horrible or fun? 😁

I’m building a project using Laravel at the moment. My first PHP project in 2 years. I’ve been focusing on Rust, Python and Typescript since then.

Yey! I did that!

I remember the time when I started: Creating slices from PSD files and building the layout in HTML tables - And don't forget the rounded corners with slices with all the PHP stuff inside the index.php😂 And then renaming index_backup.php and upload to the FTP, while having index_1.php, index_2.php etc. lool

💕

I'm not crying you are crying

@pablofmorales It was a great decade.

Started in 2005 or so and it was basically this until about 2012 😅

@MarcosBL The first time i saw data from minisql on the browser pulled from a php i wrote, i fell in love. I had done some cgi in C before, but php was magic! And later on, so many libraries. 97-98 what a time to be alive!

Great days

Jquery Ajax featured in first screenshot was released in February 2006. Try again kid.

@milindmore22 Brings back memories of the CakePHP, Codeigniter and the PEAR package liberaries. Fun and sometimes challenging times.

@milindmore22 Pear was always weird to me. The includes seemed to always get messed up.

@milindmore22 The way PEAR handled the include_path was always a bit chaotic. Being included in the root by default meant major conflicts if your hosting company already had a global version installed. Managing dependencies before Composer was a different kind of stress.
Levels - “what’s include??”

I’m not crying, I just got a $ in my eye

shitting on php. weak.

We aren’t shitting on it. I love php. 🥰

PHP is dead

Never!

php pdo was a dream. made me feel like sql injections couldn't happen. prepared statements cool looking code. ahhhh

at least bad security was a choice, not AI vibe coding hidden consequences

🥹

Some people are still building like this 🤯

The best times!

I'd say the JS code doesn't look like code from the 90s, it's more 00s than 90s.

Could have got the years wrong but I def remember some jquery with Ajax requests.

I remember it as well, but jQuery was born a bit later. Wikipedia says around 2006.

Framework tourists love announcing the death of core PHP. Systems engineers know the difference between trend and infrastructure.

Totally inaccurate. nobody had dark mode back then.

I don’t know. Notepad++ was pretty advanced. 😄

It didn't come out until 2003 🤣🤣🤣

Well I guess I can’t remember. I’m pretty sure I went front page to dreamweaver to notepad++. maybe text mate somewhere in there. 😬

🥲
