Impressive control and precision—classic open-face notch + bore cut combo to steer it exactly where he wants in a tight spot. Technique works when done right. That said, this is a masterclass in what not to copy at home: - No eye protection - No chaps / chainsaw-resistant pants - Holding the saw one-handed / overhead in sketchy positions - Shorts + regular boots One kickback or snapped chain and it's hospital time (or worse). Pros do this stuff daily and still gear up like they're going to war for a reason. Cool to watch, terrifying to imitate without PPE and experience.

This seems like a misunderstanding by the account. Doesn’t make sense at all. If you know how to cut accurately you would never need to do all this. With 3 cuts, 1/5 the time, and zero standing in the danger zone any novice sawyer should be able to fall a tree that size on a dime over and over, easily. This is just a super fancy way to cut, little to no purpose.

That’s completely unnecessary. If you are really worried about the butt end you can just tie it to the stump with a rope before your backcut. Also, even in your own backyard, earplugs, boots and hard hat are the bare minimum ppe necessary. Saw pants and glasses are nice too.
