SAVE DWARKA (DELHI) FOREST : 120-acre LAND HOME TO SEVERAL SPECIES IS ENDANGERED. NEED TO ADOPT SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT APPROACH | The DWARKA FOREST of DELHI is home to several species of both flora and fauna. Wildlife includes 65 bird species, 50 antelope (Nilgai) and many other animals flourish in the forest. This forest is close to the SAHIBI RIVER. Although it is a newly developed forest (circa 2008 onwards), it falls in the migratory route of birds visiting the Great Najafgarh Lake. The 120-acre land was acquired by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the 1960s and then by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) around 2008. In 2021, RLDA launched its Bijwasan Railway Redevelopment Project. During the above project, RLDA contractors instead of cutting or planting trees, buried them alive in the soil. They had no valid permission to do so until 2024. The forest department had imposed a fine of Rs 5.93 crore on RLDA for illegal felling of 990 trees in the area in 2022. Cutting trees in the city requires permission from the forest department under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994. However, if an area is a protected forest or deemed forest, permission is also required under the Forest Conservation Act, 2023. After the fine was imposed and paid by RLDA in 2022, RLDA again started cutting trees and burying them alive. In February 2024, the National Green Tribunal found that the land on which the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is constructing the Bijwasan Rail Terminal station in Dwarka is not a protected forest or deemed forest area. The tribunal has disposed of the plea which said the terminal was being built on "Protected" forest land. This allowed the project to proceed. The tribunal also observed that the Forest Conservation Act, 2023, which was recently amended, no longer covers deemed forests. Unique footage has emerged showing remote control of interceptor drones. The 190th Training Center of the SBS reportedly used a drone-interceptor to shoot down a Shahed UAV remotely, with the pilot located at a significant distance from the launch site. The system used was LITAVR, developed by FDrones. According to the company, an operator can control the interceptor from hundreds of kilometers away from the launch point. The F7 LITAVR is already a well-known and highly effective system. As a reminder, here are the technical details (this is all open-source information): Development of the system began in autumn 2024. It was successfully tested and officially adopted in summer 2025. Serial production and deliveries to the military started in autumn 2025. Maximum speed: 350 km/h Flight time: up to 15 minutes Equipped with two cameras: daytime and thermal imaging The officially stated tactical range is 36 km, though in practice it can reach up to 60 km and operate at altitudes of up to 9.5 km. The warhead (separately codified) weighs 500 g. Detonation can occur via kinetic impact, self-destruction upon contact with the target, or manual activation by the operator. The system uses inertial guidance without GPS and features automatic terminal guidance (“last mile” / target lock system). At present, it reportedly destroys hundreds of targets per week, including Shaheds, Gerberas, Molniyas, Orlans, Lancets, and others. What is fundamentally new? Until now, mobile air defense fire groups and frontline crews using interceptor drones required a qualified pilot on-site. It has now been successfully demonstrated that a different tactic is possible: pilots can operate from protected, remote locations. Now that the recent Mother Jones article exposed the massive levels of glyphosate currently being sprayed on our forests by the US Forest Service and their plans to spray the Caldor Fire burn scar in the Lake Tahoe Basin, the fight is on. The reality is that they are killing deciduous trees, native shrubs, flowering plants, and anything that competes with the commercially attractive conifer trees used by the timber industry. Additionally, the suggested benefits of spraying glyphosate for wildfire prevention can be achieved through other, non-chemical methods that don’t kill entire ecosystems. We need your help.
