Thanks for this quick tutorial. :3 If you can reproduce the situation where you have to exit and reenter the render preview to see the changes as they should be, please, please consider reporting it so it can be fixed. Behavior like this is a bug, and reproducers are worth a lot!

Apply the modifier, flatten along the view of the camera, and convert the GP to a curve. You can then export to DXF, giving you a CAD pipeline in Blender.
