Canvas as the surface makes more sense than chat for design work. Chat lost the ability to compare two layouts side by side the moment it went conversational. Curious whether prompts still drive the variants underneath.

This feels closer to how humans naturally create. Not prompt → output. Explore → refine → build.

I used Replit about a year and half ago and my god it was a hair pulling exercise back then. I bet it is amazing nowadays though.

canvas helps until generated variants drift from the live component system and handoff breaks

This changes how solo builders approach the entire workflow

Canvas UI is a massive step up for builder execution. Chat boxes are great for brainstorming, but actual building requires visual iteration and spatial leverage. If you're ready to transition from ideation to execution, grab my guide "START SMART" linked in my bio.

Replit Canvas is great. So we built the open-source version. Almost 57K GitHub stars in about a month. Open to everyone:

Design work happens in a chat box when you run out of screens and deadlines
