Ford CEO Jim Farley on why it's so difficult for legacy car companies to get software right & why Tesla’s vertically integrated approach is the right one: “We farmed out all the modules that control the vehicles to our suppliers because we could bid them against each other, so Bosch would do the body control module, someone else would do the seat control module, someone else would do the engine control module. We have about 150 of these modules with semiconductors all through the car. The problem is the software are all written by you know 150 different companies and they don't talk to each other. So even though it says Ford on the front, I actually have to go to Bosch to get permission to change their seat Control software. So even if I had a high-speed modem in the vehicle and and I had the ability to write their software, it's actually their IP and I have 150, we call it the loose Confederation of software providers, 150 completely different software programming languages, you know all the structure of the software is different. It’s millions of code and we can't even understand it all. That's why at Ford we've decided in the second generation product to completely insource electric architecture. All tax evasion should be called out. Following up on yesterday’s post in regard to the taxation of offshore Oil and Gas companies it was pointed out that Oil and Gas companies can shift their profits offshore to avoid tax in Australia. That’s 100% correct, but it’s not isolated to just Oil and Gas companies. Offshore profit shifting is rampant amongst all multinationals. Why don’t the Greens or David Pocock have a 25% export tax on all profits sent offshore? Why can Pfizer, Meta etc send billions of dollars offshore to avoid paying tax here in Australia? Why can Australian companies especially banks, offshore jobs to India and the Philippines without paying any withholding tax. Why don’t renewable companies, 70% owned by foreigners have to pay a royalty on our sunlight and water? is the only party to have a policy on profit shifting and is the only party to have consistently raised these issues in estimates and the Senate. We will raise the withholding tax rate on profits transferred to treaty countries to 25% and on interest income paid to all countries to 30%. This will prevent capital from leaving Australia and ensure that profits generated domestically contribute to our economy, rather than being funnelled offshore. Additionally, an operating profit ratio test will be introduced to further strengthen transfer pricing rules and prevent the leakage of profits abroad. If you’re going to call out one industry for tax evasion then call out all companies. Otherwise you’re just demonising the industries you’re trying to destroy.

So I watched this clip of Tucker Qatarlson’s interview with the Iranian president, and I honestly just laughed. I know we’ve all said how stupid people are and the level of stupidity of Islamists and the left. But this here takes it to a whole new level of stupidity. So much so that I’m starting to think that Tucker is playing everyone, especially all his idiotic guests. Just that clip opens up an entire plethora of questions Tucker clearly isn’t equipped and intelligent enough to ask, or perhaps he is but is simply playing people. Why the secret underground nuclear bunkers? Why specialist scientists involved with knowledge of nuclear weapons? Why enrichment to 60%+ and storing it and hiding it? Why designs for nuclear warheads? Why designs of nuclear capable hypersonic missiles? Why supply arms, funding and training to proxies? Why the brutal regime against their own people? Why the terrorist attacks all around the world? Why the attempt to assassinate the US President? And probably 100 more questions. So I watched this clip of Tucker Qatarlson’s interview with the Iranian president, and I honestly just laughed. I know we’ve all said how stupid people are and the level of stupidity of Islamists and the left. But this here takes it to a whole new level of stupidity. So much so that I’m starting to think that Tucker is playing everyone, especially all his idiotic guests. Just that clip opens up an entire plethora of questions Tucker clearly isn’t equipped and intelligent enough to ask, or perhaps he is but is simply playing people. Why the secret underground nuclear bunkers? Why specialist scientists involved with knowledge of nuclear weapons? Why enrichment to 60%+ and storing it and hiding it? Why designs for nuclear warheads? Why designs of nuclear capable hypersonic missiles? Why supply arms, funding and training to proxies? Why the brutal regime against their own people? Why the terrorist attacks all around the world? Why the attempt to assassinate the US President? And probably 100 more questions. But nope… the president who shouts “death to America” says they want “peace and tranquility” so all is fine🤣🤣

Gokul explains why outcome-based software companies like Zendesk are more exposed to AI than systems of record like NetSuite, and why public markets are not distinguishing between the two. He argues that the only way AI-native startups can disrupt systems of record is by spending 1-2 years building migration tools to get data off of incumbent platforms. "The software companies that should be the most worried right now is where they are pricing the product based on utility. Zendesk is a good example. Instead of paying for 50 Zendesk seats, you can pay for 20 and I can have 30 AI agents sitting next to Zendesk. For these companies you need to change your pricing model to be based on outcome. It's going to be hard for them to stay public. The companies that are less exposed are ones based on data that has been collected and captured over a period of time. ERP is a great example. There is no compelling reason for someone to put their career at stake by ripping out NetSuite. NetSuite has more time to build AI agents on top of it because they have the data, they can train the AI agent on top of it and bundle it. I think the public markets do not distinguish between these two types of companies."

We used to internally say that Palantir is actually in the mutually pleasuring business.” Couple points of analysis here… 1. He’s right. Completely 1000% correct. Traditional software companies build software they can sell, not software that is meant to provide value, which is why they can never achieve a Rule of 40 well beyond 40 or why so much of their revenue is spent on sales & marketing. Building something that works is much, much harder. 2. One thing I’ve noticed about Karp, which quite frankly was the reason I invested years ago, is his willingness to take risks with his rhetoric. Most CEOs self-censor themselves, are afraid to be charismatic, and keep it very cookie-cutter. In today’s world, AUTHENTICITY is the only thing that works to break through the noise. Karp making a bit of a vulgar joke not only lightened the mood and got peoples’ attention — the joke, as all good jokes, was rooted in truth! The ability to attach effective charisma, charm, and excitement towards delivering that message is what matters. People will say that these types of communication tactics are inconsequential— I’d say Palantir’s multiple disagrees. People invest in someone who can get them to believe in their vision. They also want to invest in someone who says what they believe in…when it comes to politics, how Karp feels about analysts that wrote of the business in 2022, or the software industrial complex — he is going to tell you what he actually feels. People want to invest in someone that genuinely cares about their mission & isn’t going to hide behind their truth when they communicate publicly. In a world of full of grifting, BS, and manipulation…Alex Karp is the authentic CEO that the public markets need which is part of the reason why people care about his company.
