Then it compared those temperatures to cumulative human CO2 emissions. They don't match. From 1899 to 1940, the planet warmed at a rate of 0.022 C per year, even though emissions were low. Then from 1941 to 1982, temperatures cooled, despite CO2 emissions more than tripling.
