Cuban landfall saved Florida on that one. Irma was not anything near the beast she was before Cuba.

Operationally, yes. In post-season analysis, she was downgraded slightly to 180 mph.

JUST IN: Hurricane Humberto has been upgraded to a 145 MPH Category 4 Hurricane, achieving one of the most explosive intensification rates ever observed for a storm in the open Atlantic Ocean. He was a Tropical Storm just 24 hours ago and is now forecast to reach CATEGORY 5 status. This is the first time in 90 years that the first three Hurricanes of the season have all attained Category 4+ strength.
