Philippine Coast Guard Takes Action Against Chinese Research Vessel Off the Coast of Ilocos Norte The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has deployed BRP Teresa Magbanua and a PCG aircraft to monitor, challenge, and escort the Chinese Research Vessel (CRV) Tan Suo 3 out of the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The vessel was detected entering the EEZ on May 1, 2025, approximately 92 nautical miles off the coast of Burgos, Ilocos Norte. This morning, upon the arrival of the PCG vessel at the location of the Chinese Research Vessel, the PCG aircraft launched from Laoag to support the maritime law enforcement operation, conducting maritime domain awareness (MDA) flight in the area. Both assets engaged in radio challenges, confirming that their operations within the Philippines’ EEZ align with the Philippine Maritime Zones Act, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and the 2016 Arbitral Award. The crew of the Chinese Research Vessel was promptly informed that they were operating within the Philippines' EEZ. Their irregular movements were deemed inconsistent with the freedom of navigation and indicative of marine scientific research activities, which violate the sovereign rights of the Philippines. They were instructed to cease their unlawful activities, clarify their intentions, and ensure continuous transit within the EEZ in compliance with both international and Philippine laws. During the operation, the PCG spotted a manned deep-sea submersible vessel fast approaching the Chinese Research Vessel, which was later retrieved by its crew. This submersible, known as the SHENHAI YONGSHI or Deep-Sea Warrior, is engineered for deep-sea exploration and scientific research, with the capability to dive to depths of 4,500 meters. In addition, a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) was deployed to recover a yellow-colored unidentified piece of equipment, which may also be associated with marine scientific research activities. These actions of the CRV serves as clear evidence that the People's Republic of China are conducting illegal marine scientific research activities within the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone, lacking the legal authority to undertake such activities in this area. The vigilant presence of the PCG vessel has effectively prevented the Chinese Research Vessel from continuing its unlawful activities within the Philippines' EEZ. The PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, reaffirmed the PCG's commitment to enforcing maritime laws and ensuring the protection of Philippine sovereignty and sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea.

"Justice Mission 2025" military drills reinforce a red line that must not be crossed The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command continued its "Justice Mission 2025" military drills around Taiwan Island for the second consecutive day on December 30, 2025. Starting early in the morning, destroyers, frigates, fighters and bombers sent by the Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command conducted drills involving identification, warning and expulsion, strikes on hostile vessels, fleet air defense, and anti-submarine warfare from air and in the waters to the north and south of Taiwan. During the drills, H-6K bombers simulated precision strikes against designated targets in Taiwan. The operation was intended to test the troops' capability of joint operations and regional blockade. On Tuesday afternoon, a flotilla sent by the Chinese PLA Southern Theater Command and led by an amphibious assault ship worked with destroyers, frigates and drones of the PLA Eastern Theater Command to conduct joint drills including rapid landing operations and the seizure of key ports in the waters to the east of Taiwan. On the ground, two troop units equipped with Long-range Multiple Launch Rocket Systems executed live-fire drills, covering the waters to the north and south of Taiwan. All these operations achieved desired effects, according to the PLA Eastern Theater Command. Tuesday's drills demonstrated that the Chinese PLA possesses formidable capabilities to cut off the lifeline of energy and resource imports for Taiwan authorities at any time, thereby destroying their separatist agenda, said Zhang Chi, a professor at the Chinese PLA National Defense University, "The PLA can strike whenever it chooses to strike, and its firepower package can be delivered right to where the separatists are," he added. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the drills are intended to deter separatist forces on the island, who are trying to build up the island's military capabilities by purchasing US arms in their pursuit of "Taiwan independence". The military drills are meant to instill into the minds of the "provocateurs, saboteurs of peace and warmongers" on the island the costly consequences "of turning Taiwan into a powder keg". The Taiwan question is at the very core of China's core interests, and the drills reinforce a red line that must not be crossed. Attempts to arm the secessionists as part of a bid to contain China will only bring conflict closer. #PLA #Taiwan #JusticeMission2025 #正义使命2025 #ChinaMilitary #ChinaMilBugle #EasternTheaterCommand

STATEMENT OF THE NATIONAL TASK FORCE FOR THE WEST PHILIPPINE SEA 9 December 2023 Manila, Philippines The National Task Force West Philippine Sea (NTFWPS) vehemently condemns the illegal and aggressive actions carried out by the Chinese Coast Guard and Chinese Maritime Militia against the civilian Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) vessels Datu Sanday, Datu Bankaw, and Datu Tamblot today during a regular BFAR humanitarian and support mission of providing oil subsidy and grocery packs to over 30 Filipino fishing vessels near Bajo De Masinloc in the West Philippine Sea. As of this reporting the mission is on-going. Based on the reports received, as the BFAR vessels approached 1.4 to 1.9 nautical miles from Bajo de Masinloc, the Chinese Coast Guard ships utilized water cannons to obstruct and prevent BFAR vessels from approaching the Filipino fishing vessels eagerly awaiting the oil subsidy and grocery packs. The water cannons had been used at least eight (8) times at the time of reporting. Additionally, the Chinese Maritime Militia vessels are reported to have engaged in dangerous maneuvers and deployed what is understood to be a Long-Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) against the BFAR vessels - causing severe temporary discomfort and incapacitation to some Filipino crew. Water cannon action have resulted in significant damage to BFAR vessel Datu Tamblot's communication and navigation equipment, as it was directly and deliberately targeted by the China Coast Guard. The Task Force likewise denounces the deployment of Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs) to disperse and drive away Filipino fishing vessels eagerly awaiting the distribution of fuel subsidies and food supplies from the BFAR ships. To prevent the distribution of humanitarian support is not only illegal but also inhumane. Moreover, Filipino fishermen have reported and documented the Chinese Coast Guard launching a small boat early this morning to illegally install a floating barrier at the southeast entrance of Bajo De Masinloc. The actions of Chinese Coast Guard and Chinese Maritime Militia hindered the BFAR vessel from accessing the entrance of the shoal. We stress that Bajo de Masinloc is a high-tide feature with territorial sea, per the 2016 Arbitral Award. It forms an integral part of the Philippine national territory under the Constitution. The Philippines exercises sovereignty and jurisdiction over the shoal and its territorial sea. The 2016 Arbitral Award has also clarified that Filipinos have traditional fishing rights in the water of Bajo de Masinloc protected by international law. China's illegal exercise of maritime law enforcement powers, interference with Philippine vessels, harassment and intimidation of Filipino fisherfolk, or any other activity that infringes upon the Philippines' sovereignty and jurisdiction in Bajo de Masinloc are violations of international law, particularly UNCLOS and the Arbitral Award. We firmly insist that these Chinese vessels leave Bajo de Masinloc immediately. We demand that the Chinese government take immediate action to halt these aggressive activities and uphold the principles of international law and desist from actions that would infringe on Philippine Sovereignty and endanger the lives and livelihood of Filipino fishermen who have traditionally fished in the area. The NTF-WPS remains committed to protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea.

#BREAKING 🇨🇳China slams🇯🇵#Japan over its provocative actions on🇨🇳Chinese Liaoning aircraft carrier's training, with hard evidence. On-site audio proves🇯🇵Japanese SDF vessel received notifications from🇨🇳Chinese Liaoning carrier formation. Yet Japanese military aircraft intruded into China's exercise and training zone without authorization to hyping the so-called "radar illumination" issue According to a Chinese PLA Navy spokesperson, the PLA Navy's Liaoning aircraft carrier formation conducted regular carrier-based fighter jet flight training in the waters east of the #MiyakoStrait and had made public the training sea and airspace in advance. On December 6, the Liaoning aircraft carrier formation conducted carrier-based aircraft training after passing through the Miyako Strait, according to yuyuantantian. At 2:10 pm, the Liaoning formation organized the Warship 101 to issue a notification with the message: "Our formation organizes shipborne aircraft flight training as planned." The Japanese destroyer Teruzuki confirmed receipt of the Chinese notification via radio. At 2:28 pm, the Liaoning formation organized the Warship 101 to issue another, more detailed notification: "Our formation plans to conduct carrier-based aircraft flight training, expected to commence at 3 pm, lasting approximately 6 hours, primarily in the area south of the aircraft carrier." Subsequently, the Japanese destroyer Teruzuki once again confirmed receipt of our notification via radio. Japanese aircraft intruded into the designated exercise zone, which was also the sea and airspace notified in advance for the training. Their closest distance to the Chinese aircraft was less than 50 kilometers. Currently, the airborne radar detection range of some mainstream fighter jets worldwide exceeds 50 kilometers. This means that Japan's actions have severely disrupted China's normal training operations and placed both sides in a dangerous situation.
