As a physician in one area for 40 yrs. I have noted that many men dump their first wife after the kids have left the home. They invariably marry a younger second wife. The divorced women are the most unhappy people I've met. They are all on antidepressants. They don't relate to their friends who have stayed married. They get a cat and tell people they are happy. They aren't. They try to date but 50 year old men don't want 50 year old women. It's sad but it's a fact of life.

Bc men stop putting in the effort with their friends once they get married and their wives usually don’t want them hanging out with the fellas

There is no time to socialize when you are out there protecting and providing, so all is born of the social construct
