BREAKING: The Australian is reporting that Sussan Ley and the Liberals have agreed to support Albanese's Hate Groups Bill. This is DISTURBING on so many levels. 1) This bill has been rushed and the views of Australians have not been considered. Over 7,000 Australians made submissions about the bill which have not been considered. 2. Overnight 2 million Australians emailed MPs with concerns about the bill via Turning Point Australia's portal and their views have been completed sidelined. 3. Labor has guillotined debate in the Senate which means there will not be proper time for debate as they have drastically cut debate time today so that a vote will be forced to happen. 4. Leaving aside the serious procedural defects in the way this has been rushed, there are bigger substantive problems with this bill as it gives the Minister for Home Affairs extraordinary new powers to designate a group of Australians a "hate group" and introducing 15 year prison sentences for anyone associated with the group. Of our political leaders Pauline Hanson 🇦🇺 is the only one who has remained consistently against these huge and unprecedented attacks on Australian freedom. Tomorrow I will vote no on Bill C-9. The Liberals' decision to shut down debate on this deeply concerning Bill and rush its passage through the House is wrong. I submitted to the House a petition from local faith leaders that warned of the dangers of ignoring the concerns of Canada's many faith communities regarding Bill C-9. Civil liberty groups and major unions echoed these concerns. C-9 will only chill freedom of speech and weaken our ability to combat hate. It should not be passed.

Let’s be clear: Bill C-9, The Combatting Hate Act, is the anti-hate legislation that communities and law enforcement across Canada are asking for. Our government remains willing to work across the aisle to look for constructive improvements to this Bill. What we will not accept are endless delays and Conservative tactics designed to dodge a vote on this bill. I made a promise to my constituents to stand up for them and pass laws to fight back against hate immediately. Canadians want action- it’s time for Conservative members to get on board.
