The connections of Constitution Hill are facing into an extremely difficult, unavoidably emotive decision. For what it’s worth, here is what I think.

even if he won the champion hurdle, it'd still be the wrong decision to run him.

Cheltenham will be poorer for his absence, however flat racing will be enhanced by his presence.

Agree with every word, I couldn’t run him over hurdles if he was mine. The falls he’s had, he’s been lucky to get away with them. I’d go Tattersalls Gold Cup and then Coronation Cup, both will be ok the soft side of good. 3 falls in the last 4 and a shocker

It’s not too difficult. If you’re Michael Buckley or Nicky Henderson, and Constitution Hill throws himself at another hurdle and breaks a shoulder, could you honestly say to yourself and everyone else “I didn’t expect that to happen?”

Agree with every word, Kevin. John Porter, Hardwicke, take a a view from there. Ebor? Melbourne Cup?

I think he could win a Melbourne Cup Kevin what are your thoughts on that ??

Fair play, nice to see you smile and look like you enjoyed it 👍 the toughest decision of his career now looms, couldn’t call it. #ConstitutionHill

It’s a huge dilemma, Kevin. Good luck to them. I’d rather he didn’t go to Cheltenham. Saw him there in 2023. He’s done enough over jumps.

Kevin, you’re not meant to be analysing this race. You’re meant to be hooting and hollering ‘I ❤️ Racing!!’ 😂 Seriously, great commentary and you’ve echoed a lot of my thoughts. So many different perspectives to ponder and make a decision. What a dilemma!!

The only risk is who rides him

Nicky will make the right decision. Personally the thought of it falling and suffering a fatal injury outweighs everything else.

Wow, that was the total opposite to what I was expecting you to say. Probably for the first time ever Kevin, I wholeheartedly agree with you.

I agree that the horses health is no1, but there is no way after that, that Henderson does not go for the champion. If he was able to win, it'd be similar to Sprinter S in his legendary status. If he goes for G2's on the flat, he'll be just much better Hamish

Keep him on the flat. Falling 3/4 tells you something. He doesn’t want to jump anymore. Pick spots for him on the flat where he can be competitive. Better for him.

I think you are spot on, but connections know they have the Champion Hurdle winner, can they get him to jump/land over 8 hurdles 🤷🏻‍♂️ he could win some decent races on the Flat or be placed, but is that the same as being the Champion Hurdler.

I’m in shock by his performance and I was completely wrong. I hope they skip the hurdles, give him a summer on the flat and a few big handicaps. He was a champion already but he can be a legend. Group 1 on the flat I’d doubt but I’m very often wrong.

Well said Kevin. The negatives around something going wrong in the Champion Hurdle outweigh the positives of him winning it. Like you say,let him enjoy himself on the flat where trainer and owner can relax and enjoy it.

Kevin, no importa a dónde vaya, si a plano o a obstáculos... Por favor, que lo siga montando Oisin Murphy...😂😂😂

They bought him as a jumps horse. Give him one more try at the champion hurdle and take it from there. Imagine the scenes if he romps up the hill!

CH if he jumped, would sluice up in the Champion Hurdle. But you know every other jockey in that race would play on his vulnerability, their duty to their connections. CH's connections should dream of a Grp 1, I'll dream of what could've been for the best hurdler since Istabraq

Are we glazing over how poorly he has been campaigned the last few seasons Surely with CH ability the was races to be won on the flat, I can’t have the going as an excuse We definitely have been robbed of see CH more

There’s nothing difficult about @sevenbarrows deciding to campaign CH solely on the flat rather than risking a potentially fatal fall over hurdles, particularly as he now belongs to the nation and is racing’s flagship bearer. It would a PR disaster if he fell over hurdles again.

Could he not try both? Be a shame if he never completed another hurdle race. If it isnt to be the flat campaign is always there. He looks in the form of his life

I don’t think it should be that hard. Obviously he’ll do well on the flat, jumping is a very big risk that could end in disaster or maybe he wins but is it worth it just to prove a point.
