The consensus behind the old model of development financing is dying. Developing countries aren't just waiting for disaster to overwhelm them, they are increasing their domestic financing where they can. We at UNAIDS Global are working with them to find ways to fund HIV prevention & treatment, and how...

The old model of development financing is dying, but while aid may disappear, #GlobalSolidarity must remain. We can build a new consensus rooted in: ✅ debt justice ✅ tax justice ✅ intellectual property justice ✅ global public investment #FFD4Sevilla

We did a lot in June in Mozambique 🇲🇿!!! Through READY, PAAJ-Mozambique brought together over 140 passionate young people from across Mozambique for a National Advocacy training. Youth from Maputo, Zambézia, Sofala, Gaza, and Cabo Delgado engaged virtually and in-person to learn about the READY+ project, advocacy basics, and the READY to Advocate tool, an incredible guide to Advocacy. Access it here This engagement was a great opportunity for young people from different backgrounds to share ideas, identify provincial youth focal points, and plan how to strengthen youth-led efforts. This is part of our effort in ensuring young people's voices in their health and well-being are strong and united! ✊🏾🔥 This project aims to integrate young fathers into Comprehensive Sexuality Education programs by recognizing their unique perspectives and the importance of their involvement in parenting and sexual reproductive health discussions.

For over two decades, the US Government has been the biggest champion of the global HIV response. The current disruptions in US funding for PEPFAR and other programs are having a devastating impact. If PEPFAR is not fully resumed, and other resources are not found for the HIV response, UNAIDS estimates that over the next four years there would be: ☑️ 6.3 million additional AIDS-related deaths ☑️ 8.7 million additional people newly infected with HIV. The global disruption in HIV prevention and treatment services has led to clinic closures and halted prevention efforts and community systems - threatening to reverse decades of hard-won progress in the fight to #endAIDS. The suddenness of this disruption highlights the need for a planned transition for countries from foreign aid to national ownership in order to ensure continuity of HIV services. UNAIDS Global is working with partners to develop HIV sustainability roadmaps to support countries to lead the critical programmatic, policy and financial aspects of their HIV response. We are promoting national ownership, increasing domestic financing, and ensuring that the hard-earned progress in the HIV response is protected and sustained. A vital lesson in all this is that global problems need global solutions. Pandemics respect no borders, and viruses don’t stop for visas. Ending a pandemic like AIDS requires coordination, solidarity, and compassion. We are hopeful that the 🇺🇸 government will maintain its life-saving contributions through PEPFAR, while countries work urgently to ensure sustainability of their HIV responses with greater national ownership.

WATCH: Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) ENDS ABC's George Stephanopoulos for platforming the Iranian FM and mostly allowing him to spew propaganda GERGE STEPHANOPOULOS: And we are back now with Republican senator James Lankford of Oklahoma. Senator, thank you for joining us this morning you just heard the Iranian foreign minister. He said this attack was unprovoked. How do you respond? JAMES LANKFORD: Yeah, I would hope that Iranian TV is carrying Marco Rubio today, the same as you all just carried the Iranian foreign minister today. We certainly have been provoked on this. this. Just a year ago, we had over 180 attacks from Iran on Americans, either through their proxies or directly from Iran. They continue to be able to fund the attack of ships off the coast of Yemen. Obviously, there are they're funding Hezbollah, the Shia militants. They have continued to be able to attack us now for decades, and that is accelerated. So just because we have blocked their attacks doesn't mean they're not attacking us. So this becomes the situation where you're shooting at a police officer and telling him you can't fire back unless they hit you. We've continued to be able to block them, find ways to be able to prevent their attacks but they have certainly been attacking us. We ended their nuclear program and they said, we're going to start all over again because they are determined to have a nuclear weapon. And so this is the moment to be able to say, you're going to stop attacking American citizens and you're not going to have a nuclear weapon.
