The corridors development initiative reflects our commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and people-centred urban transformation as articulated in the Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda. Implemented across multiple cities beyond Addis Ababa, the initiative is improving urban mobility, revitalising public spaces, strengthening local economies, and enhancing environmental resilience. By connecting neighbourhoods and...

The Corridor Project is probably one of the largest demographic engineering in Ethiopia's history since the 16th century. "The scale of forced evictions – the removal of people against their will from their homes without legal protections and other safeguards – resulting from the implementation of the CDP, is unprecedented in Ethiopia. The sudden and forced eviction of a large number of people has also left millions of residents in cities where the CDP is currently being implemented living in fear, uncertain if they will be the next to be displaced." ~ @amnesty

Anything but "people-centred", unless your definition of "people" is the dollar earning diaspora, aid/ngo workers n the rich. Yes, great development and it won't go anywhere when the ppl's living standard catches up. Poorly managed displacement, Low wages, unemployment, inflation

Although the transformation of cities is amazing, the majority of Ethiopian living condition is getting worse and worse every day. It’s time to hold infrastructure development and start alleviating poverty and hunger in Ethiopia. If it’s not balanced, there will be distribution.

This is the pure reality, so please, Ethiopian people, we must feel proud of what we have in our country. Right now, many tourists are traveling to Ethiopia. I was in Ethiopia for 15 days, and it is incredibly developed. The Ethiopian government, with regard to economic development, social welfare, infrastructure, and state institutions for proper functioning, is transforming the country incredibly, miraculously. Without a doubt, achieving this in Africa in 5 years is a miracle. That's why African governments that have been in power for more than 15 years should learn from the Ethiopian government to modernize their cities, infrastructure, and institutions for proper functioning. Unity is strength; we must learn from the European Union. Africa, with so many human resources and a youthful workforce, how long will it live below the poverty line and in underdevelopment? Right now, many foreigners are traveling to Ethiopia as tourists to see its wonders with good intentions, and a few to study, do evil, or spread false propaganda. That's why we must watch over the nation with our eyes wide open.

I respect PM Abiy. However, I do not agree with him that the CDP is people centred development. Hee knows how thousands of people have been uprooted from their homes and have become homeless.Addis Ababaians have not been consulted and thrown into the streets without compensations

This is called knowing how to lead or govern; you have to see it to believe it. It's incredibly miraculous to be able to accomplish all of this in just five years of government. I think we all know that after inheriting a country with a completely empty state budget, without funds, and not even enough money to pay the salaries of state employees, and with a debt of over 30 billion... I am truly overjoyed as a person that a government in Africa can achieve these goals. This teaches the whole world, especially Africa, that if we work day and night, we can achieve our dreams and lift Africa out of poverty and underdevelopment. I truly congratulate everyone for having fulfilled their dreams after all this effort, and that it has borne fruit. Driving change in Ethiopia is paying off. That's why I truly urge everyone who loves their country: now is the time to return and see the change with your own eyes. Continue working on political inclusion to guarantee lasting peace, stability, and development in Ethiopia for future generations. The time is now. A better country is built through the efforts of all citizens, and a better country isn't built in a day or a year. Recognizing the extraordinary abilities of others who surpass us in intelligence or wisdom is what it means to be human. Therefore, let us learn to appreciate those who do good for our nation and acknowledge their great efforts.

Urbanization in Ethiopia is inevitable phenomenon! In "MEDEMR " philosophy as well, National Road map, stated that well planned &designed cities dev't, backed with revitalization initiatives, like corridors, carried out at the center of well being maximization of the urbanites .

Honorable Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed. The national projects launched at the national level, people-oriented development activities, corridor development, and rural and urban landscape construction are clearly yielding results and should be continued and strengthened.

CDI is transformational success. While any national project of this scale entails serious negative consequences that need serious and immediate addressing, it also opens exceptional opportunity: transforming fragmented rural agriculture into concentrated urbanization.

Addis Ababa’s Riverside Development is far more than a riverbank beautification project. From the Entoto to Peacock corridor to the Entoto–Kebena stretch, this is a large-scale urban transformation that extends up to 50 meters beyond the rivers, creating green corridors, public gathering spaces, walkable areas, recreation zones, and commercial spaces that are reshaping the city itself. What makes the project especially significant is its broader economic and social impact. Beyond improving the appearance and function of the riversides, it has created jobs for many people across construction, engineering, landscaping, logistics, and related sectors, while also generating opportunities for local contractors, suppliers, and businesses. The fact that so much of the work is being designed and delivered locally highlights the growing capacity of Ethiopian expertise in urban development and infrastructure. The sustainability aspect is equally important. Once dumping grounds for toxic waste and flood hazards affecting communities along the riverbanks, these areas are now being transformed into greener, healthier, and more liveable urban spaces. At the same time, the integration of commercial and public spaces demonstrates how environmental restoration and economic growth can work together rather than compete with one another. This is a long-term investment in the future of Addis Ababa as a greener, more connected, economically vibrant, and people-centered city.
