This is completely my personal opinion, but the overwhelming bipartisan support for moving the Continuing Resolution forward, after nearly a year of fighting over CRs, suggests to me that both Republicans and Democrats were concerned about the possibility of a government shutdown amid Senator Mitch McConnell’s absence. Whether either party ever admits it is beside the point. I simply want to thank both Senate Republicans and Democrats for working together to help prevent an October government shutdown that could have harmed our national security. I also hope Congress eventually investigates how Senator McConnell’s office was run during his prolonged absence.
