Washington isn’t fighting over whether to “open or close” the government. It’s fighting over how much more debt to pile on—$2 trillion or $3 trillion. Democrats already voted for these bloated spending levels when Biden was president and now, they’re willing to die on the hill of handing Obamacare subsidies to households making $225,000. While they refuse to move an inch on the shutdown they’ve caused, Republicans aren’t much better, playing along with their charade. There are alternatives like my Penny Plan to balance the budget in five years.
