Something doesn't seem right with Arsenal's strikers at the moment. Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyökeres have been starting games together, but neither has really found the consistency or sharpness we're expecting from them. Tonight, Mikel Arteta decided to leave both on the bench and started Gabriel Jesus instead. Unfortunately, Jesus also failed to take his chance, missing a good opportunity before being substituted. Gyökeres was then brought on, but it was more of the same. He made some good runs and looked threatening at times, but couldn't find the back of the net before Arteta eventually replaced him with Havertz. Havertz also made some intelligent runs into the box but couldn't finish his chances. That leaves Arteta with a real headache ahead of Man City on Sunday. 😬 All three strikers are struggling for goals at the moment, and that's the last thing Arsenal need when we're about to face one of the biggest games of the season. Arteta has plenty of options, but right now, none of his three strikers are giving him an obvious answer. 🔴⚪

I watched Robot on the Road and honestly I did not really know what to expect going in At the beginning it just feels like a pretty normal little road trip setup with this robot hitchhiking around Japan and it almost gives off a chill slice of life vibe But it does not stay like that for long The more it goes on the more you realize the robot is doing some really questionable stuff and the way it focuses on women without their consent makes the whole thing feel really uncomfortable By the end I was not really sure if I was supposed to find it funny or just feel weird about it Overall it feels like one of those shorts that tries to mix dark humor with awkward situations but it mostly just ends up being unsettling

It's important to know that the Thing which is sometimes called a "camel spider" is better called a solpugid or solifugid. It's not a spider at all. It has no venom glands, and kills prey by crunching them up with their massive jaws (the most powerful for their size of any animal). A really big one can nip you, and probably draw blood if you let it hang on long enough. But no venom of any sort. They just look super scary. I kept one as a pet for a while but it was a pretty terrible pet because all it wanted to do was escape the terrarium 24/7. Spiders, scorpions, and mantises are way more chill.

Experiencing the joy of a British camping trip out in the sticks ☔️ And of a so-called men-only camping trip where there is a woman on T with her arm skin dangling between her legs After I arrived I got talking to some guys and mentioned how important it was to have gay-male only spaces then one said there was a ‘transman’ around but “You’d never know”. I could tell who she was later that eve without even seeing her - during a noisy quiz night on Friday I suddenly heard that high-pitched grainy Buck Angel-type voice, looked over my shoulder and there she was She’s apparently a regular at this event (it’s been going for ten years) and much beloved by the organiser and some of the other regulars, but I’ve spoken to a number of men who just want it to be a gay men-only event or who feel very conflicted about it all (she also attended the event before she had surgery between her legs) Put more of a damper on things for me than the weather Not sure if I should contact the organiser and how to approach that - I’ll probably get banned for life as he gave her shout-outs during various announcements “We love you [name]!” Other team members also threw the word ‘queer’ around with abandon and referred to drag queen Divine as having been ‘assigned male at birth’ 🥴 There was nothing on the website whatsoever to indicate that this was a mixed-sex trip or that they were captured by the gender madness so I feel conned. At least I had a few good convos with other gay men who were on the same page - some had heard about the Sandie Peggie tribunal, one about Northumbria police withdrawing from Pride, but others were mostly unaware of the issues and even if they rolled their eyes at pronouns and ‘non-binary’ stuff they felt protective of ‘trans’, seemed to think that you can ‘become a man’ via surgery and hormonal interventions and said that my arguments were “the same they made against the gays” 🤦‍♂️ Some looked shocked and even disgusted at me using ‘she / her’ for this woman “He’s had to face much bigger decisions than I’ve ever had to” said one man, repeatedly. I said that didn’t show bravery but only a commitment to absolute madness So what was meant to be a carefree weekend with a bunch of gay men (250 of us) turned into a disappointing and frustrating couple of days Was meant to stay till Sunday but left Saturday late when I could catch a ride to somewhere that wasn’t on the way back to London but I just wanted to get away, the whole thing felt fake Now heading home via a bit of a detour Also learned I’m definitely more of a hotel person! 😆

Welp... I did not want to talk about this, because really, it is quite embarrassing. 90 miles in, the very first service ticket was created. This was last week. Rivian Service in SSF has graciously facilitated everything for us, loaner and expedited service because come on... 90 miles! That and of course, the series of service issues we've had in the truck we traded in. They know us, and that's not a nice feeling. I am not a "Karen" customer; I hate being the one asking for help, asking the questions, asking for updates. I work in customer service, I know how that is, and it's awful. I love this company, I love these cars but it's truly a disservice to a) not perform a quality control inspection before releasing / selling vehicles and b) have the service centers completely overflown and completely booked for months! I know that if I didn't have that direct contact for the service manager I would have been just bitching and crying for service for probably weeks. Rivian has got to add at least two service centers in the Bay Area, these vehicles are everywhere, and as a shareholder it hurts to see them bleeding money in rentals, over time, etc. I am being taken care of, yes. And the issue is quite simple: passenger side daytime running lights would flicker, headlamp beam would work (so not concerned about safety) but still, a brand new vehicle should not have a faulty headlamp. And again, I did not want to post about it because I know some poeple will just spread their negativity and respond their comments full of hate, but at the same time I am a consumer and I take pride in my transparent ways to conduct myself in business and life. Zero lies, zero omissions. So yeah, a little late, but this is the truth. In the meantime, I shall continue advocating for this amazing company that caters for customer service in such an amazing way, it truly makes us feel special. Huge shout-out to SSF service, truly covering a massive, busy geographical area. They need help! Let's get more service centers, come on! Hopefully my car is ready tomorrow, and I pray to all the gods that I don't need service ever again. Hahaha. I want to drive my car!

Flappy Bird w/ DeepSeek V4 Pro vs GLM 5.2 vs Fable 5 I ran a small experiment: same game, same prompt, three different models. Test setup was simple: /𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚒𝚐𝚗 in Command Code. The thing I cared about was not UI. UI is now relatively easy for models to imitate. I cared more about UX: whether the model understands the interaction, the flow, the hierarchy, the little product decisions that make something feel usable. 𝙲𝚘𝚜𝚝𝚜: 𝙳𝚎𝚎𝚙𝚂𝚎𝚎𝚔 𝚟𝟺 𝙿𝚛𝚘: $𝟶.𝟶𝟶𝟶𝟾 𝙶𝙻𝙼 𝟻.𝟸: $𝟶.𝟶𝟺𝟾 𝙵𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎 𝟻: $𝟶.𝟺𝟸 The surprising result was that Fable 5 did not produce a meaningfully better UX. It was good, but not good enough to justify the pricing delta for this kind of design task. Open-source models are getting very interesting here. They are much cheaper, competitive on UI, and increasingly good enough on UX. The gap is closing fast.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure continues to suffer from the heaviest technical difficulties yet. I went on the attraction for the first time 2 months ago today, and it was one of the happiest moments of my life, yet these issues can’t be ignored. My 26th ride last night was the worst state I’ve ever seen it in, and it’s operating in an even worse state today, with the Audio-Animatronics figures freezing and resetting while Guests were riding. I love this attraction more than any other, yet I’m at the point now where I’m even having a hard time enjoying it when my favorite parts of it aren’t working correctly. This attraction, in my opinion, truly is a joyful celebration when everything is working correctly, yet that’s not reality right now. I’m sad to see it in this state and hope to see the issues addressed immediately so everyone can fully enjoy the beautiful experience that it is.

Catwoman uses a grapple gun to zip up to buildings and she has a built in wingsuit. #LegoBatmanGame We already knew this, I just wanted to see it in action in a free roam setting. I’ve started to make my peace with it somewhat. I’ve already made my peace with the wing suit, but the grapple will take and getting used to only because I think she should be able to utilize her whip as the grapple and please do not give me that thing about “it’s not long enough” she was able to utilize it in the Arkham games (please see my attached screenshot reference of me literally playing Arkham city right now and the whip length) and it didn’t even properly wrap around things and the length was inconsistent when she used it to get to the top of buildings I’m not saying that she needs to be able to scale the buildings like she doesn’t ask them because I understand the movement will not work like that in this game giving the open world, but it will be very nice if her grapple to zip up to buildings was replaced with her whip. It’s a Lego game who cares about the inconsistent lengths of the whip? Regardless, I am super super excited and I cannot wait to get this game in my hands on the 19th

Living in the past is not the solution anyway, so I prefer to focus on the present and future. I don’t expect 2024 to take away all my troubles at midnight today. But I’m going into 2024 with hope, confidence and determination. If I go down, at least I will have tried my best. 2024 will be a year with lots of changes, setting boundaries, focus and finding my true self. Disappointed with your ICLR paper being rejected? Ten years ago today, Sergey and I finished training some of the first end-to-end neutral nets for robot control 🤖 We submitted the paper to RSS on January 23, 2015. It was rejected for being "incremental" and "unlikely to have much impact" Our resubmission to NeurIPS was also rejected It now has >4,000 citations (and more importantly, end-to-end training is widely accepted!) It's also cool to think about what's changed and what's the same -- - The network was 92k parameters and trained on ~15 minutes of data - The code was a combination of matlab, caffe, ROS, a custom CUDA kernel for speed, and a low-level 20 Hz controller in C++, all talking to each other. ROS+matlab was as bad as it sounds. - We pre-trained the encoder and did inference off-board on a workstation with a larger GPU. - We were paranoid about varying lighting messing up the network, so we did all the experiments after sunset (so long nights running experiments on the robot past 3 am) Now, we have manipulation policies that are far more dextrous, far more generalizable, and maybe on the cusp of breaking into the real world. :) (the paper:

It's also cool to think about what's changed and what's the same -- - The network was 92k parameters and trained on ~15 minutes of data - The code was a combination of matlab, caffe, ROS, a custom CUDA kernel for speed, and a low-level 20 Hz controller in C++, all talking to each other. ROS+matlab was as bad as it sounds. - We pre-trained the encoder and did inference off-board on a workstation with a larger GPU. - We were paranoid about varying lighting messing up the network, so we did all the experiments after sunset (so long nights running experiments on the robot past 3 am) Now, we have manipulation policies that are far more dextrous, far more generalizable, and maybe on the cusp of breaking into the real world. :) (the paper:

Coffee thoughts - I’m not sure Candace is coming back. “I want to thank Baron for telling me it was time to do this”. “Thank you to everyone that’s been on this journey it’s been a heavy one.” “Today went a lot different than I thought it was going to be” Just for the record the court filing I posted last night was to get more time to respond and to go from 25 pages to 35 pages on why the court case with Harpole should be dismissed for “Failure to state a claim”. She’s trying to get it dismissed before it goes to discovery. Put the paperwork in AI it will give you the specifics. We all knew it was coming. The money it takes to fight these suits is insane. She’d be stupid to not try to get it dismissed. And Tennessee has more laws protecting public figures so it would be easier to get dismissed than in Delaware (that doesn’t) with the Macrons. I still think more happened yesterday. And the way she was acting just gives me this maybe it for a bit. Maybe I’m wrong but I knew yesterday something was up. Her video seemed more directed at making her last claims on everyone than continuing the attack. There was nothing there for an emergency video. She’s heavily pregnant, she’s run out of material, she’s being sued and the cases are coming up, she has 4 kids about to be 5 and you can only attack people so long with the same accusations. The trial is coming up that will disprove the conspiracies. Or maybe she just wanted one last show until she gets back. I still question if maybe another lawsuit dropped. We shall see. I do not try to guess who wins the election or what the weather will be in Dallas. I just look at what a wallet with a 70+ win rate is doing and repeat it" He did not build models. Did not write scripts. Did not analyze news He opened Telegram and showed me a channel. Simple messages: wallet X entered position Y, price Z cents, market such and such Then he opened Polymarket and showed me his balance I am not going to name the exact number because he did not ask for that. Did 114x on a single token under the mentorship of MrKrabb and I've been progressing since then ★ Erected a borehole in my home town, and also got a generator set for it making my family house the 1st with a private borehole ★ Lost my 1st romantic relationship out of my own ignorance ★ Spent money enough to get my first car on helping people. A thing of joy, 0 regrets ★ Got a small circle of people I could work and have fun with ★ Helped about 5 people make their first $1k at least ★ Found love again ❤️ ★ Furnished my apartment some more, upgraded my renewable energy and upgraded my workspace too Many to say but a few........ My entire Polymarket strategy right now is Ctrl+C on a wallet making $20K a month and Ctrl+V on my account. Yeah. I know how that sounds. 6 months ago I would have closed the chat on anyone who said this. Probably blocked them too. But here is where I am: last month, +$2,700. Trading decisions I made: 0. For context, my best month of manual trading was $580. And that took 3-4 hours a day. Let me back up. For 6 months I was a "real trader." Charts on 2 monitors. 3 Discord alpha groups. NOAA weather data at 2 AM because someone said temperature markets were free money. Spreadsheets tracking 40 wallets. Every thread read. An opinion on every market. Average month: somewhere between $400 and "I would rather not say." I was very busy. Just not very profitable. Then something clicked. Not an insight about markets. An insight about me. The wallets I was tracking, the ones pulling $15K-$30K a month, had data pipelines, sub-second execution, and models I could not replicate in a year of trying.
